Just wondering if anyone has a solution to the playdoh taste you get from CAP Glazed?

I have made a few recipes that I found on line and also a couple of my own and no matter what I do with CAP Glazed all I can taste is playdoh. Even after emptying my tank I still get that horrible taste for at least a tank afterwards.

I thought that it may be just my tastes but a few mates that have tried it all say the same thing.

I have made 6 different donut style juices in 60ml batches and they all taste horrible and hoping there is a way to save them. First time using it so should have been more cautious and made small bottles to try. Live and learn I suppose.

What are the percentages of the glazed in your mixes? Also, is this after steeping?

I see this in notes at ELR: "needs a good steep, and keep the percent relatively low, like 2-3% otherwise it can taste like play-dough."

I see many people mentioning the play-dough taste, in fact. So I'd say you could try a small sample of one of your mixes, and up the base and other flavors relative to the glazed donut so that the glazed is no more than around 2%?

Thanks for the reply.

I let them steep for a fortnight with a weeks worth of airing with a daily shake.

Just checked and the majority are between 4-6% but one is 8% so probably my problem right there.

I will mix up another 60ml of one of the flavours and leave out the Glazed then combine the two and see if it works. If it does then I'll repeat with them all.

Thanks again for the reply.

So do I.

Have been mixing for over a year now and can't remember the last time I threw out a mix but was in half a mind to do it with these 6 bottles and the CAP Glazed. There hasn't been too many flavours that I haven't been able to save and make them vapeable but this playdoh taste is absolutely horrid.

Fingers crossed dropping the percentage may be enough. Who knows I may even like them after that.

It's possible if it tastes like Playdoh at 6% or 8% it's gonna taste like Playdoh at any percent.

I don't go over 5% but I've used it as high as 8% and it never tastes like Playdoh to me.
On the other hand, I can't vape it anywhere near my daughter - she says it smells like crap to her.

In fact, I was vaping some the other day when I picked her up at college and she threatened to get out of the car and walk home

Same here, I don't get playdoh either. Although, I have a couple of recipes that use solely CAP Glazed, I prefer to mix with another doughnut flavor for better results. Glazed plays well with TFA Frosted Doughnut. I usually use a 60/40 CAP/TFA blend @ around 5 - 6%. YMMV... :D

Some bakery mixes can be salvageable, might want to give them another chance by:
1. Thin down with a little VG if too strong, then try adding a little FA Joy at 0.75% and/or TFA Acetyl Pyrazine at 0.2% - steep 2 weeks. may help. Would not worry about nic, few drops of VG is not going to make the nic disappear.
2. Could use them as an adder or supplement to a mix. Just add a few drops to a too creamy/fruity/PeanutButter/etc. or other offending (strong/weak) mix(s) and see if the bakery settles the existing mix down.
Might try adding to other bakeries mixes in small amounts.

I have this same problem with a few of CAP's flavors, vanilla custard just tastes like NyQuil to me. It's interesting mixing your own juices, because now i know what they put in suicide bunny's mothers milk. It tastes exactly the same. All I taste is NyQuil.

FWIW, I've been playing with some new flavors using the 5ml (100 drop) method. I drop of flavor is about 1%. I fill the syringe just short of 5ml to leave room for flavoring.

It's an easy way to try new flavors by pouring up 5ml in several bottles and adding a few drops of flavor. 5ml is enough to fill most tanks. If I don't care for a new flavor it's not a lot of loss to just pour it out and wash it down the sink after it's steeped and still not tasty.

Hey Dave that is a good idea. Thanks for sharing.
That would be a lot easier than wasting a bigger amount. I used to make small 15ml bottles of new flavours but offer would be annoyed when it was a great vape and I had to wait for the next batch to steep. Lately I have been making 60ml of all new flavours as generally can tell from the ingredients if it will be any good. Unfortunately due to never using the Glazed before I didn't know what I was in for. Will be making smaller batches again when ever I introduce a new concentrate so I don't make the same mistake.
I have doubled up on all the flavours except the glazed of one of the 60ml bottles, will let it steep a bit and see how it turns out. Fingers crossed it will lose that overpowering playdoh taste. If it works I will do it with the other bottles.

I make 50ml batches in 60ml bottles to allow some headroom for flavor addition if I need to.

The 100 drop (5ml) method is great for testing new juices. If you start with a large mix containing everything but the flavor you have unflavored mix around all the time to vape when your taste buds need regeneration. It's also there to pour up small batches for flavor testing. I usually do two 100ml bottles of unflavored every time I mix for that reason.

I've wildly over-flavored mixes enough times to realize that I should have started smaller.
There's been times when I ruined a mix so bad with too much flavor that I had to create three 50ml bottles from one over-flavored mix. If you finally get it right and like the result, then you have a lot of juice you can vape. If the attempt fails, then you have lots of wasted juice that finally goes down the drain!
