Car Adaptor?

I drive 2+ hours everyday, so I want to use my PT in my car.
I went to local cell phone store and bought usb car adaptor rated 5v 1000ma which is the same as v4l sells.
I bought it and tried and I doesn't work, so I exchanged it and tried again no luck.
I tried my wife's car and doesn't work.
It charges my cell phone and usb charger with batteries fine.
What am I missing?

I am worried because even if I buy one from v4l it might not work since I get the same 5v 1000ma.

Any suggestion?

I bought one also, I tried it with the gift of a PT from Steve, it didn't work so I had my hubby pick up 3 more of them while in Florida. It was the PT that didn't work in my case, because after we returned home, I tried the PT that came with the kit, and it worked fine. Just something to check out.

Bottom line... you'll need at least 1250mA for the PT to work right. You might get some vapor with less... but it won't be working optimally.

if the pt works at home but not in the car then you have an adapter problem. I also used a cell phone adapter at first that, I too, had problems with. true 5v at 1.0mah will run the pt. my experience is, however, that either not all adapters are created equal or that the rating on some cell adapters are exagerated. I trust that the units for sale on v4l will work.

i have the one from V4L and it works just fine. steve's got 2 car adaptors, get the one for $8.95 - they got mislabeled with the rating but so long as it comes in a plastic cover, you're gold. i guess i got lucky because the first time i ordered, he threw one of the older ones in as a freebie and that worked too .. just not as well as the new one that i bought. hope that helps.

sheryl, can you not draw air through thr pt? if no, some carts are not compatable with some bats/passthrus. be aware that either the cart or the bat/passthru must have a groove in the center ring to allow for airflow. None of the manual batteries or passthrus that I have purchased from V4L have the groove. Some of the carts that I have purchased from other vendors also do not have the groove. If you try to use a "no groove" bat/pt with a "no groove" cart, you will get no airflow.

I rec'd this one as a gift from Steve, I tried it both in the car and on the computer, it's the PT that didn't work. I was just stating this because maybe the OP got a PT that also doesn't work, and it's not the USB car adapter that's the problem. Thanks for trying to help though. (I had another PT in the kit I had purchased, this one worked fine)

OK, this may seem crazy, but I've also had a problem for several days. I ordered a manual passthru & a usb adapter from Steve. Just could not get it to work right. I first thought it was the adapter, which I thought was the new one at 1000mah. When I got it only showed it as 200mah. So I sent an email to cs telling them my problem & Mark replied asking me if it was in a plastic bag. I couldn't remember-lol. Btw(I told them that it wasn't working on my computer very well either) I had an older 901 usb ps, so yesterday I did some testing. Went for a ride in my car with both. I 1st tried the new VK passthru & got not much of anything, then tried the 901 usb & wow, it was awesome. Sent another email today to cs telling them this info & that I thought it might the usb ps. I've been using it & testing it more all day today. Bingo all of a sudden tonight it just started working right. I was at puter & it was doing much better, so I took it to my car & tested it & wow it worked there also! Anyho, all I can say is there must be a break in period on these also (just like with some regular batts). I am back at puter now(of course) & its working great. OK, I feel like a nut after all the emails to cs. Now I've got to go an send another one to let Mark know to forget about all my problems. Go figure.

P.S. it does cause static on my radio station when I use it thou. crazy but true. I tried it several times, but I can live with that-lol.

I find this very interesting. When I first saw that in order for a car adapter to work, it needs to be 1000mah...I checked and mine was. I have 3 pt's. 2 are auto and one manual. Neither of my auto's work but my manual works great. All 3 work great on my laptop at work. At home, none will work on the usb ports on my monitor but they do work on the ports on the computer.

BTW, in my case my VK one was a manual as I stated but the 901 was a auto.

Makes no sense, but, I am no engineer. Kanger forgot to put the new lables on the new car chargers....ugh, I biatched at them, so, hopefully the next 2000 will be labeled correctly
