My volt will arrive tomorrow! I assume the chargers all have a standard usb connection. Could I plug this into ANY car charger with a usb port (like, say, the one I have for my phone) or am I asking for trouble by doing something like that?

I would imagine you can but i would ask Smokeless Image. I'm pretty sure they will give you a straight up answer and not just lie to get you to buy something else from them.
No you cannot use it without comparing. The one meant for your phone may not have enough mA output. Check the AC to USB that came with your ecig and see what volts and what amps it puts out. Anything between what your ecig's AC to USB puts out and standard USB which is 5v 500ma (.5A) will be OK (and in fact the mA output of the car USB can even be higher (I have one that is 2A aka 2000mA) - the battery cable will only take what mA it needs). Any adapter that puts out less voltage or less mA than what your ecig AC to USB puts out, or puts out more voltage than 5v will not be usable.
Chances are your adapter will be usable for charging a battery but you have to check them. However, if the car charger did not come with your phone and was purchased separately as a standard car lighter to USB, then it is probably 5v and 500mA and that would be fine (USB spec, same as a motherboard USB slot on a PC)

Im sure it'll be fine bud. I've been charging my gizmo's off of various 3rd party chargers for years without incident. Manufacturers *cough* at&t *cough* will tell you that you will damage it so they can sell you something 3 times more costly than necessary. All these devices run on lithium ion and will charge very similarly and makers of said devices are all aware of this and in communication with each other so I find it hard to believe it an issue. But if you're real worried about voiding the warranty and such, better go ahead and ask SI.
Your bigger concern is whether the car charger will give you a full charge, vs. actually wrecking your battery. You should be fine, though.
Yes - 5v and 1 amp is fine for charging. Not enough for many passthroughs (vaping off power) but plenty for charging. Your battery cable should only take what it needs of the mA. Just be careful the first time in case you have some kind of stupid cable (I have never run into one though)
