I checked out the official websites for NicoDerm CQ (the patch) and Nicorette gum. Both of these products claim that they do not contain any carcinogens found in cigarettes. It seems that this could be the grounds for a lawsuit.

If nicotine is the problem, why should I wear a nicotine patch?
NicoDerm CQ doesn't contain any of the carcinogens (cancer-causing agents) that are found in cigarettes. This is why NicoDerm CQ is safe enough to be sold without a doctor's prescription, and why it's proven in helping millions of smokers quit safely.
