I normally choose two flavors each morning, load them each on a fresh battery and go back and forth throughout the day/evening. My question is this - should I be placing the condom top on the cart I'm not using - does it make them last any longer? Should I not have them on a battery unless I am actually using them? I keep my stash stored in the boxes as delivered, just wondering about my daily routine.

I think you should do whatever makes you feel comfortable. Personally if I am actively using a Carto on and off through the day or even over a couple of days I don't place any caps on them. The caps (never liked the term condom) are meant for storage before use so the filler doesn't dry out.

As for leaving the Cartos on the battery, I do, but some folks don't. I know that you should never leave the Cartos on p/t when not in use, as far as that goes you probably should not leave it plugged into the USB port when not in use.

Unless the battery is activated via drawing on it (auto) or pressing the button, simply leaving the Carto on it shouldn't draw down the battery. I have read 1 or 2 stories of Autos with a Carto attached heating up, but I think these may have been a different type noise activated battery.

I generally have 3 batteries ready to go at all times and I leave the Cartos on them throughout the day. Never had a problem.

    Iowa Gal,

Your routine sounds like mine. I start with a fresh 24mg in the morning, and switch to an 18mg in the afternoon. This means they tend to last me for a day or two before they need to be replaced. When I'm using one of them, I keep the cap on the other one so that it doesn't try out. I often have several batteries in a dish with carts/caps on them that I have used for part of a day. I think keeping the cap on them until they are no longer producing vapor helps to extend their life. At least, that is MHO.

A carto isn't going to significantly dry up in the course of a day or 2. The caps are more for prolonged storage in the weeks and months range. If I am carrying spare cartos I leave the cap on simply to keep lint and stuff out of the carto.

Personally I don't leave on cart on a battery unless it's the one I'm actively vaping. I wouldn't throw a carto/battery combo into a purse or drawer and leave it. It shouldn't be a problem but I'm a better safe than sorry type. I have seen rare cutoff/switch failures where the carto heats up enough to melt the cap.
