please help i have a ego c twist with a 3 hole carto and 5ml tank. It either floods or is dry. The carto is primed correctly and the tank isn't overfilled. Tried all voltages on the twist to no avail. Been thinking about going to a vivi nuvi 2.5 clearomizer (i think thats right) since it can be rebuildable (kinda from what i have read/seen) Any ideas?

Try taking a tooth pick and break it off in one of the holes and leave that hole plugged. I use the triple prepunched cartos and rarely have a problem. Also try blowing the carto out into a paper towel after the prefill. this will get out any excess liquid if its too full. Overfilled is easy to fix but underfilled is a real problem.

I have almost thought about getting a small bowl and putting my juice and carto in there for an overnight soak LOL then taking it out blowing out any excess and going that route. Never thought about the toothpick idea maybe will try that when i get home tonight thanks

Also the pv/vg i have been using is 50/50 not sure on the carto will check the shop i go to and get back to ya on that one =) . Used to do 80/20 on a 2 hole carto with juice from highbrow and never had any issues with that but still new to the whole vaping scene so.....

J-81? I would consider separating the carto and tank. If then you can get the carto to work well with your juice, then put it in the tank and go from there with hole sizes.

I've tried certain cartos, and could not get them to Not give dry hits, tank or not. If you only have pre-punched cartos, you can trim a piece of the rubber condom off, and slide it over the holes to vape outside the tank.

Noob here.... it seems to me a clearo is easier, right? You just pour in juice and go. (Again, I'm new... be gentle...) LOL

For some, that's true. For me, I have a 6ml. carto tank. It only takes me 5 sec in the morning to fill, and I'm done for the day. A few weeks later, throw the carto out, clean the tank, and I'm good for another 3 wks.

People do love their clearos tho.

It's pretty interesting what setups different vapors end up liking over other setups.

Myself, my favorite is the cartotank. Like r77r7r said, with my Slap-Yo-Momma tank tool, I can refill a tank in about a minute. Start a fresh carto and empty tank in about 5 minutes which will last me all day or more (in a 2 ml tank), and by simply refilling the tank after it gets low on juice, the carto should last me a over a week with multiple tank refills.

I found clearo's and clearo-tanks (vivi nova) to be very hit or miss. Just the quality control of the clearos out of the box was hit or miss. Some DOA, some only lasting a day or two, some lasting me 3-4 weeks. And then there were the leaking issues. I found the vivi novas to be extremely easy to use and to produce great vapor, but with some juices the flavor was extremely muted. A couple of flavors were so absent that had I not known what I put in the tank, I wouldn't have had a clue what it was.

Having said that, I know that others have had the exact opposite experience. The important thing is to give everything a try and see what works best for you.

i found with nova the ohm is sometimes .3 off than what's marked on it
so if you depend on v*v/ohm calculation to get your sweet wattage spot you could be having different result from one nova to another. i found after using vw device all of the nova clearos i have are giving me similar performance. i used to have a tank that i can only crank up to 4.0v and another one can go 4.2 (on same marked coil resistance) and this is before i had my apv so ohm checking is non existance

after getting my apv i can understand why

I like cartotanks better. Boge cartomizers, that is. At first, there was a little bit learning curve for me. How to punch cartos right (if they weren't prepunched), how to leave a little aircap between tank and mod, and filling the carto and the tank properly. But nothing major, just things you don't have to even think about after few times doing them. I have tried several clearo's, and they just could not match the taste and the vapor comparing to Boges. They are not bad... but, not as good.

I have this finnish Lumi-tank on my Lavatube, my faithful companion when everything else fails :D

It's good to have both, depending on what type of juices you enjoy. For most of my e-liquids, a carto/tank is my preferred choice; it works best for me in terms of flavor, hit, ease of use, etc. For NET juices that tend to clog cartos, I use Kanger T3 clearomizers.

To the OP: for 50/50 juices, two holes has worked just fine for me. I'm guessing the third hole is causing the flooding.

Question for the experienced: I have been vaping for a couple of months and so far I have only used Kangers. Started with a T2 and now have a T3. The flavor seems good for the most part, but during heavy vaping it becomes very muted. Is this pretty comparable to how a carto tank will act, or can you vape them heavily and still expect consistent taste?

I will add that I am very pleased with the T3 in terms of dry hits as, so far, they are nonexistent. Can't say the same for the T2...

A perfectly vaping cartotank is reliant on the flow of juice from the tank to the inside of the carto where the heating coil is. The conduit of this flow of juice is the hole or holes in the carto. There are other factors that come into play, also. The polyfill in the carto must be totally moist with juice without flooding it out before putting it into the tank. It has a center air hole that must not have juice in it.

If the juice flow can not keep up with how hard the vapor is puffing, dry hits or burnt taste can occur. Once a carto's polyfill is burnt, it is ruined. Slow, deliberate, and steady puffs work best to allow the juice to keep up with the vaping. Sometimes "primer puffs", puffing without the power switch on can help encourage slow juice flow.

On the other end of things, carto's can flood in a tank. This can be due to improperly self-punching holes in the carto, puncturing the airhole while punching holes, allowing juice into the airhole when prepping the carto, and puffing too strongly or hard causing too much juice to enter into the carto.

Having said all that, I have found my favorite juice delivery device in cartotanks. They offer the best flavor and the most care-free convenience once set up.

I love the Vivi because it tastes clean and its easy to swap out the flavours.

I know a lot of people don't feel the same way but cartomizers always give me "filler" taste. Maybe my cartomizers were crap but unless I find a better one I cant puff on a cartomizer.

I like my Vivi Nova, but I find the taste from my carto tank way better. And, I don't like cartos outside of a tank. Don't like the filler taste either. I use them on my eGo when I need a pocket friendly device, and that's it. Carto tanks definitely have a learning curve, but it's not bad. You just have to figure out how many holes you need for your juice. That and make sure you have the Slap Yo Mama or a refilling tip.
