I recently got my first carto tank, I got a SmokTech Anodized U-DCT - V1 6.0ml and a 5pk of replacement 2.5ohm cartomizers with 2 holes. I filled it with a delicious vanilla custard 50/50 liquid and I had problems with the liquid being able to go through the two small holes. I watched video about slotting cartos, so I subtly mentioned to a friend that I needed a dremel because I knew he'd have one. And of course he said oh I have one you can use, I was like SCORE! But he pulls out this dinky little rotary tool, and puts on the mandrel with these little sand papery cutting rounds that were so fragile two broke before even getting it going. But hey, beggars can't be choosers, so I worked with what I had. I managed to slot them, but some were these big gaping gashes, some I don't think I did well enough, but I was like hey better than those tiny little holes that they came with.

So I set it up, and I was able to get the carto nicely saturated, but I'd set it down for a bit and it seems like the liquid just falls out of it. The cartos look dry when I pick them back and I have to... well this may sound odd, but have to suck on it to pull the liquid into the carto. Is that normal? Do other cartos do this too? Or is it because of the slotting? Also, the flavor seems quite muted, again is that just how it is with cartos?

I think the problem may be your carto's. Once my carto's are primed (initial use) and in the tank, they stay moist. (I'm assuming you primed the carto before you put it into the tank with 20 - 30 drops) If I let it sit for say an hour, I will do a dry pull without power to bring a little more eliquid into the carto, so that is not unusual.

I mostly use 3-hole pre-punched cartos. When I am using a 50/50 PG/VG eliquid, I will add a slot with my Dremel. You don't go too deep, just enough to get past the metal shell, about 3/4 of an inch in length.

I have found that the flavor and hit is much better with a good carto over any clearo. It can't match an atomizer, however. I would suggest you try some tank cartos from IKenvape or some 3-hole punched Smok cartos from Sweet-Vapes. I am using a variable watt (VW) PV which allows me to adjust the warmth of the vapor.

I use an eVic, at around 11 watts, it usually ends up 5v or a little less with the resistance I use. I would have liked a three hole cartomizer, but could only find two holes on that site. Does anyone have preferences on the carto manufacture (will definitely check out IKenvape as I actually hadn't heard of them) ... And I'm also about to further show my total ignorance on the subject.. but what's priming a carto and how do you do it?

I use these 3-hole punched at 11 - 12 watts on my Vamo. They may work well for you:
