I just got some blank 510 cartos in from alien Vapors and I'm trying to fill them up. They're my first cartos. I don't know what kind they are, if they're boge or whatever. I guess they're soft tip... the white mouthpiece tip is rubber and came off easily. When I pulled that off, I see batting/filler surrounding a little white straw. If I understand the directions I read online right, I can drip right onto that filler to fill the carto, right? My main question is, do I have to avoid the little straw? Will dripping into that mess things up? Any tips are appreciated.

I was planning on trying the condom fill method, but these didn't come with the long condom required.

I'm new at this too but I've been filling cartos successfully for several days now......way better than prefilled. I do not use the condom method. I fill at the soft-cap end. You'll keep your battery connection from getting gunked up this way.

You want to try to avoid getting liquid into the little white straw as it can gunk up the atomizer. To do so, hold the carto at roughly a 45 degree angle as you slowly add drops to the bottom inside surface of the metal casing and let the drops seep down into the filler. You can sort of roll the carto around as you do this (still at a 45 degree angle) to help distribute it. If it's a blank you're filling, you can shake the liquid down between every few drops by shaking it like a thermometer. You'll see that the filler looks less wet after you do this. This means that it can take more liquid. You'll find other similar methods of getting the liquid down in there elsewhere on this site....

You can also let the carto sit upright for awhile so the liquid moves downward. I also make sure to clean around the bottom (battery) end of the carto since a little may seep out during the "thermometer" shake. I find that cleaning both battery contacts with rubbing alcohol on a little twisted piece of paper towel helps keep those areas clean.

I find that if you just take it slowly you end up with less mess and you'll be able to keep your batteries in better condition.

Good luck!
