Carto lifespan in tank

I remember seeing in several different areas on this forum and from youtube reviewer videos on youtube that cartos are suppose to last alot longer in a tank as opposed to using it by itself. at most I'm able to get 3 or 4 days out of a boge 2.0 carto in my tank, I'm not seeing anywhere close to the 2 to 3 weeks that have been claimed before.

What could I be doing wrong here? they get a burnt taste after 2 to 4 days.

Make sure the hole or slot is large enough to keep the carto soaked.

What PG/VG mix do you vape and at what voltage ?

hi stelio, I'm using a 3/8" saddle valve to punch my cartos. I'm vaping 80pg/20vg ecblends juice at 4.0 volts. The cartos always measure between 2.1 and 2.3 ohms on my provari.

I thought maybe the holes I was punching weren't big enough but I double punched one to test, a hole on each side, and it was still burnt after around 4 days.

Would punching the hole further up closer to the drip tip help?

No it should be as low as possible (near the connector end) .

I'm at a bit of a loss.

Do you also fill the carto first as you normally would , then put it in the tank and then fill the tank ?

Anybody else have any ideas ??

I do prefill it but maybe I dont let it settle? I'll try to fill it and let it settle for awhile.

There was a post on here awhile back and a fella was having great success with an xtra hole up top. I always get plenty of dry hits before burning. Using dark/sweet eliquid is usually the worst.

If you're using the bogexl's, I've heard they've had issues lately with a few. What brand carto and tank are you using?

in my very first one, I got about three weeks out of it, been gettin' around 4 days out of 'em since then. The way I figure, even if it's the same time as without a tank, it's easier than filling your carto endless times in a day, so it's worth it to me.

Could be the juice. I use the standard Chinese 555 juice from MadVapes. Its nearly clear, and my cartos last at least a week, no tank. But I usually keep them dripping wet....

In my experience the lighter the juice the longer the cartomizer will last. I would be curious to see how many milliliters of juice the people getting 2-3 weeks out of a cartomizer are using in that time period. If they are a light vaper I could maybe see getting a couple of weeks out of a cartomizer. I can get a week out of one using light juice if I am lucky.

I get a week and a half usually with 100% vg from my cartos in a tank. Most of mine are light in colour. I also punch that extra hole in the top and I like it!

I uaually get around 2 weeks using IKV fusions with 50/50 liquid. I use two dremeled slots, though.

It really helps to syringe fill the carto before putting into a tank. I fill the syringe with 1 ml and make sure to get it all into the carto.

I've had many last longer than the two weeks but I change them for a fresh one when I need a different flavor.

I use a tank with a provari and after about 3 days flavor becomes somewhat muted, fresh boge and I'm good to go, life's too short to vape old carts!

3-5 days at the most, at about 4 ml's daily of my favorite juice. The other tanks, sometimes more as I don't vape them all day, just off and on. After 3-5 days, juice gets a muted flavor or burned undertone even though they are WET, I guess it gunkes up at the coil and I'm tasting old juice. Sometimes I clean/flush/dry/reuse, sometimes I pitch. at $0.92/carto, I guess I won't go broke......

You really should be counting liquid volume instead of days here. I can get about 20ml through smoke tech DCC.

I agree juice usage would be a better way, however I dont measure, I just top off with 6-10 drops every hour or so on my standard size cartos, a little more on the XL's.
