Carto shelf life

I'm a newbie - explains why no avatar - can't get this all figured out.

Anyhow, I've been at this a month now & finally figuring out what works for me. I'm usually not such a slow learner, but this definitely has been a learning process! From battery type to nic strength, I've really been experimenting - but I'm determined.

I want to try a bunch of new flavors - but was wondering how long they'll keep. Right now, I'm using about 1 carto a day & am not completely off the analogs....but I'm down to about 1/4 of the 1-2 pack a day habit of 38 years, so definitely getting there!

I've been amazed at the great customer service at V4L - they've definitely got my business!

So do the cartos last a while or do they have to be used rather quickly?
Or would I be better off getting blank cartos & juice?

Welcome and congrats! And a good question - I've wondered that myself. I have read that the liquid has a shelf life of around 2 years, but I don't know about the cartos. I would expect they'd last quite a while, though.

GrannyM, big welcome and congratulations on cutting down on the analogs! That is a HUGE accomplishment -- I know, cuz I smoked about the same as you and also for 38 years before I discovered vaping.

Let us know how you're doing with it, and feel free to pop in as often as you want. We're pretty friendly around here.

About the avatar - just can't get the picture under the 5 kb that's required. Everytime I try to reduce it in my picture program it keeps getting bigger.

Can the blanks be refilled more often than the prefilled cartos?

I would think they would be about the same. But I haven't tried blank carts yet, so maybe someone else will jump in here to answer that one.

The amount of times you can refill really depends on both luck and how careful you are with your carto. I have found good results with never vaping them dry. Refill early and often. While you're refilling, make sure the center tube with the atomizer is well centered, that will help the carto last longer.

I can't say it's a real answer to your question, as I've not ordered the blanks yet, but hopefully it helps.

By the way, this forum is what kept me from abandoning vaping altogether. I was getting pretty frustrated at the beginning.

1st order (same product basically, but different company) was a very simple starter kit - w/ 11 mg cartos & auto batteries. It just wasn't doing it for me. By reading this forum, figured I need more nic & only place that had it was V4L. So initial order w/them was a starter kit - what a nice surprise to get bonuses!!! - but the best part was the manual passthru. Now, I know what all the hype was about! And thankfully, Steve threw in a variety of carts, because the 555 I ordered would not have won me over.

Next time, I ordered a manual battery just to see if was the auto that was not a good fit for me or if it just was the pass through that was so much better. And surprise to me, bonuses again!! And sure enough, the manual battery does the trick!!

So, now for the 3rd order - I'm getting 5 manual batteries - uh oh - they sent me autos. No problem. After an email to customer service, they're shipping me the 5 manuals today & told me to keep the autos for an emergency. I do believe they are downright spoiling me!

But while I wait, it was another trick I found here that's helping me deal with the autos. Someone suggested putting the condom on the "lit" end to make it act like a manual. A little clumsy, but it works!

So thanks to all of you & to V4L - I think I'm getting my life back.

Granny, for an avatar picture try saving it in a "lower quality" or less color count. That greatly reduces the size of the file and is barely noticeable in a tiny picture like that.
