Ok. I gave carto tanks another shot after nothing but bad from them. Currently, as a proof of concept trial working on a smok udct. It's the real tiny size, where the juice area between the carto and the tank wall is so skinny the bubbles from the carto flatten and deform. I vape the tank out in about a half hour.

i am using an ikv low res punched, flanged carto.

good taste (I don't get any 'filler' flavor) and 'ok' th and vapor. The draw is so bloody tight though! Would really like more th and vapor too.

part of the tight draw may be the locking ring on the tank, though.

Would I get a -real- increase in satisfying vapor and th by switching to standard resistance cartos, and putting them in a better tank (considering maybe a 22mm IBT)?

I have the SmokTech UDCT tank with ST 1.7 ohm dual-coil pre-punched cartos and the tank lasts me almost a full day. Sometimes it needs to be topped off in the afternoon, but mostly it'll last well into the evening.

I don't usually have a problem with the draw being tight either, but it'll get tighter as the carto gunks up. When it get's too tight, I replace it.

I normally vape at 8 or 9 watts when using the carto setup. I really wonder how you manage to suck it dry in half an hour

IMO, You'll get better TH, flavor & vapor when you fix the air flow problem.

I have a skinny Phinny that works perfect so I don't think tank diameter makes much of a difference as long as juice can be pulled into the carto
I prefer SR carto's, some folks like LR, I doubt the resistance has anything to do with your issues.

A higher quality tank may seal better (caps to tank o rings & carto to caps o rings) which IMO does make a difference.

Thoughts:
If you are Vaping out the tank in 1/2 hour, it is WAY to small. Move to a 5-6ml tank
If you are Vaping out 2ml in 1/2 hour - you are over vaping - adjust life style

If UDCT is Blocking side air holes in Carto - UDCT is a Fail. Holes must be open to allow air flow.
If Tank is sitting tightly on top of Mod with no adjustable air Flow - raise Tank slightly to get air flow. - difference can be 500%+ From choking to Free flowing air.

If Cartos are tight Draw when new and OFF Mod - Chuck and change brands

If all else fails - Get a Killer 705 and have an OMG moment! :D

I have both Boge F16 cartos and IKV Punch cartos, both 2 hole, both low res. The IKV are tighter with a bit more flavor. The pull on my Boges is absolutely perfect in my opinion but that is the toss up. You are either going to have more filler in your carto for more flavor and a tighter pull or a little less filler with an easier pull. The Smoktech cartos have even less than Boge IMO and that's why they flood easier so I personally don't recomment those at all.

Try some Boge F16's and see what you think.

BTW I use both the IKV's and Boges in a 19mm glass IBTanked tank.

Ok - this teeny little tank doesn't hold any 2 ml of juice. Maybe you could call it 2 ml if you count the juice in the cartomizer, but if don't count that, as the whole point is to not be letting the carto get dry. I would believe it to be closer to three quarters of a ml in the tank, I mean this thing is teeny.

Unscrewing it a half turn did seem to really help rhe airflow, and the th and vapor production are now about on par with my protank, except now the thing wiggles and I'm afraid it'll have spotty connection.

Maybe it's just the way cartos in general screw into the vamo - I seem to recall having had tight draw hate for a cart I tried at my brother in law's place.

When I use my carto tanks on my vamo, I use an airflow controller. Well, actually, I pretty much always have the airflow controller on the vamo as its threads are...eh.

But, if you take the carto tank off of the device and suck thru it, and it still has a tight draw, then the carto is the problem. if the draw loosens up, then you need to ensure you get proper airflow to the carto. The airflow comes in from the holes at the sides of the 510 connector.

The vamo very well can be preventing proper airflow to the carto based on its configuration.

IMO smoktech dct's are the bottom of the barrel of carto tanks. The hole in the caps is to small (tight around the carto), which leads to an inferior O-ring size. Tank size is nothing but personal choice. I have big ones & small ones and they all work the same, you just need to start out by having decent quality tanks.
These were one of the first tanks on the market, and are still one of the best on the market.

IBT's are actually a clone of the J-tank.
