How long should a carto last in a tank?

I am new to the whole carto tank scene, and my Smoketech 1.5 ohm Single coil 2-hole cartos are only lasting me about two days before I lose the airflow pinhole, they start flooding, giving a tight, gurgly draw with loss of vapor. I've read people saying that their cartos in a tank last about a week, so I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

I am vaping Copper Creek House Blend (a pretty dark juice) in an Altsmoke 6 ml DCT tank on a Silver Bullet. I do a full prime on my cartos before I use them for the first time (they are flanged, so can't do condom fill), but I'm concerned I may be overfilling them. All the videos and guides say to fill until you get weeping from the holes, but by the time I get that, the carto is also leaking from the battery end. I blow the excess out and make sure that I have a clear air hole. The setup works amazing at first, but then the carto dies in only a couple of days.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Happy vaping!

There's been tons of complaints lately about Smoktech cartos. It doesn't sound to me like you're doing anything wrong. I think a lot of it is tied to the juice you use.. I use some pretty clear juices and have gotten three weeks and more out of a tank carto. I'm not familiar with the juice you're using, but if it's dark I would almost bet that that's part of your problem.

I stay away from dark juices 'cuz they seem to clog up a carto pretty quick. I put 50 drops in a new carto then put it in the tank and fill the tank from the top with the top cap on. Then push the carto the rest of the way up. Take sharp draws with out pushing the power button 'til bubbles stop coming out of the carto. I also like to use a shorty 510/510 adapter for more airflow.

In the beginning...my cartos would last a month+. Now (and I'm not sure what the issue is) they last 2-3 days. I got fed up and ordered a bunch of different clearos to see if they behaved any differently. I don't vape a lot of dark juice (coffee-flavored is the exception, but I vape that in a XL dual coil cartomizer which seems to hold up better than those with the tanks), and have no clue as to why the insane amount of flooding/gurgling/general carto BS.

Thank you all so much for your replies!
It's good to know that my troubles with tank cartos are probably not due to user error, but a combination of vaping a dark juice and carto quality. I have ordered some of the 801 fusion cartos from Ikenvape that so many people are raving about, as well as some lighter juices. Hopefully this will solve my carto tank woes.

ok, here are my 2 cents. Im rather new also, but Ive found that the carto life aside from technical issues from some cartos having bad batches is this. Certain juices especially like the Coppercreek that are real dark and thick, (not neccesarily all vg) are carto unfriendly. I have 2 tanks I fill them up using the same brand of carto, same hole configuration, same everything except the juice. On one tank I have a dark tobacco that uses natural flavorings and real tobacco extracts on the other same ratio of 50/50 juice, but a light translucent orange/clove or other fruit ejuice. The tank with the dark tobacco gives me about 3-6 mls of juice ( about a day of use) and the other tank with the clear juice lasts me about 12mls ( 3-5 ) days of good vaping tll it starts to get a tighter draw.

Im a heavy chain vapor so getting about 5 days of use from a carto is really pushing it. With my heavy tobaccos im lucky to get a day of use. I use Vermillion Rivers tobaccos, and The Plume room these are dark potent juices with actual tobacco leaves macerated to extract a truer tobacco taste. I believe these ingredients have alot of particulates and cause the clogging of the cartos faster. I hope this helps and remember days of use are relative to how many ml are actually going thru a carto and how much you vape and if you vape at lower resistance cartos( meaning hotter/ warmer ) THe juice will actually sort of bake on the wire inside so the thicker or darker your juice is the quicker the gunk will build up.

One thing you can do is to carefully take a paper clip (unbend it) and put it through the air hole. It should come out all full of gunk. Wipe that off, and repeat until clean. You do have to be careful though as I killed a carto trying this. It wouldn't fire, so I must have hit the coil. However, if you are going to throw it in the trash anyway, I guess it is no loss.... I just started using my very first tank, a dct, and the smok tech dual coil has been working well for the past several days. I do rotate between 3 or so different juices though, so each one does not get tons of use.... I have tried boiling them in the past, but that didn't get them totally clean and seemed to mess up the filler material. If you do want to boil or just a syringe flush, I would say to use the same juice in the carto and not mix them. Also, distilled water is probably better than using tap water....
