Hello!

i am expecting a provari mini in the mail by tuesday 2/12 and have no tank/juice setup yet. this will be my first PV and am much excited as i desperately want to quit smoking.

i've decided on the carto/tank setup based on what i've read but i want to be sure that a rebuildable atomizer isn't what i want. i've read many good things about these (no leaking/burning), but have also read from a member here that its not ideal for the provari. did i read this correctly? i've also read that the tip comes off easily? i would lose my head of not attached...opinions on this please?

i plan on ordering the hippo upper sleave from Bill in Greece (nice guy) but don't expect to receive one of these for a couple weeks as they are out of stock. i want a tank though that will appear flush with the circumference of this sleeve, rather than the smaller circumference of the existing tapered tip of the provari. so what size is this? pyrex please :)

does anyone have any pics of the 'fluid flask' on their provari?

cartomizers - i will probably not want to punch my own holes and have read that companies producing these do a fine enough job punching their own...thoughts? boge 3ohms i believe? is there a better one?

the slap yo mama cartomizer tool is the "stainless steel slap yo mama multi-purpose adapter", yes? $12.99? i've read that i most definitely want to use this...

i'm sure there are 1000 videos presenting the proper use of cartomizers with tanks. is there one that stands out above the others, and uses that slap yo mama tool in it?

i am waiting on the 2 in 1 battery extension so i will be able to use 18350, 18500, and 18650 batteries and have a charger coming with the mini. these extension, too, are currently out of stock.

can you think of anything else that i need?

thanks!

Most of your questions can be answered by viewing my blog. Click the "blog entry" under my avatar.

I have a review of the IBTanked pyrex tanks. There is also a list of vendors that sell pre-punched cartomizers for the tank.

Concerning the Fluid Flask tank, there's a thread here with pics and a link to a video of one on a Provari.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tanks/374209-anyone-using-tank-fluid-flask.html

The slap-yo-moma is an indispensible tool for anyone who uses cartotanks. You get drip tips for your tanks? I'll also assume you got the appropriate size AW IMR batteries that the Provari requires and a high quality charger.

RTD Vapor is a great place to get chargers, batteries, and drip tips should need them.

Not tryin to burst your bubble or anything, i started vapin about a month ago and have loved it since. If you have never vaped before i would get an Ego to start out with, but youve already ordered your provari, vapin doesnt work for everybody like my father, did it for a lil while and found out he just wanted anologs, a provari is a pricey piece so if vapin doesnt work for you then your out 230 dollars. as far as tanks and cartos go i tend to stick with a 5ml jtank with a SR pre punched carto. welcome to the world of vapin!!!!!

I'm confused about the batteries. A mini uses an 18350 or an 18490 with an extension cap. I need to reread your post.

Good pick up, Ocelot. That confused me, too. Unless he ordered the regular extension cap to use an 18490 and the extension sleeve from Kir Fanis at GR Mods that allows the use of an 18650 battery.

I forgot to add, one can use an RBA on a Provari. I'm vaping on an AGA Tiamat plus as I type. The great thing about rebuildables, is that you can custom make your homemade coils to whatever resistance you need. I'm finding the Provari invaluable to read the ohm of my coil and to check for any shorts that might be present.

hell, if it needs bursting then by all means, please do. but a couple of the gents i work with have ecigs already (egos, blus, lavatubes) and i have used them. i am committed to quitting at this point and have read too many posts on here of members stating they wished they would have just purchased one initially, its the greatest thing since sliced bread, etc. i believe i have made an informed decision here but appreciate the concern nonetheless.

maybe i am the one who is confused...the mini uses an 18350 yes, but this 2 in 1 extension provides for the use of an 18500 and 18650...

That's the same extension cap Baditude linked to. I wasn't aware it existed. I only knew about the one on the ProVape site.

As far as the difference between a 18490 and an 18500, I've wondered that myself. Could it be a slight difference in size? I don't know. I didn't get an extension cap, so I haven't thought about it too much.

To save money, I planned to buy an extension cap at a later date, but I'm not sure I will. I weighed the mini with the battery inside and a 5ml polypro tank on it (which was about halfway full) and it was 5.35oz. I don't think I could comfortably hold anything heavier for very long.

18490, 18500? difference?

I wasn't aware of the existance of that multiple tube sleeve and endcap product. Those should work....once they get back in stock. :p The vendor does make a reference that these will work with an 18500 battery, but I believe the vendor is actually confused between the difference between that and an 18490.

Concerning the difference between an 18490 and an 18500, the 18490 is an IMR class of battery (unprotected, but safe chemistry). The 18500 is a protected battery, and not recommended by Provape for use in a Provari.

IMR batteries, and specifically AW brand, are recommended by Provape.

I base my information from the Provape website, and actually looking at these batteries at RTD Vapor: Genuine AW Batteries at RTD Vapor

damn, provari as your first pv? go big or go home huh?
ive been making my own carto tanks lately out of polypropylene tubing, vinyl grommets, and o rings. ive tapped a fill port on the side with a thumb screw in there so i can fill the tank without having to slide the carto around. i have enough materials to many at least 80 carto/tanks. ill probably run out of cartomizers first before i run out of materials for tanks. 10 ft of polypropylene was only 10 dollars.

but since you have a provari and money seems like no object, there are a few alternatives out there. valley view vapes makes an inexpensive polypropylene tank. but if i were you, id opt for a glass/pyrex tank. they'll look much nicer on a provari.

i punch my own cartomizers because its so easy and i save more money that way. prepunched carts are about 1.50ish while i can get non-prepunched for less than a dollar each. punching 2 holes in them takes less than 30 seconds.

i think going with the provari will actually save me money in the long run...as to punching holes versus buying prepunched, i will definitely look into this later on. i'm thinking ease of use presently.

i'm getting a 404 error on the ibtanked website when clicking on the 'step one, pick a tube link'...

I am also. Are you using Google Chrome as your web browser? I think that is the issue.

You can bypass that method to order by ordering each piece of your tank either piece by piece (tank tube, endcaps, cartomizers, drip tip) or ordering the tank kit. Both ways can be accessed from the drop down menu.

I sent an email off to OCD to let him know of the issue, in case its on their end.

...tried both chrome and firefox.
If you can wait a few days to order, those should be back up on the site soon.

IBTanked is a 3 person, family run business and due to increased popularity of their products and the fact that 2 of the members went out of town for a few days, some products were removed from inventory temporarily until stock of those items can be replenished. Additional staff have been very recently added to aid in this.
