I've read that the Mini Provari is functionally the same as the regular provari, just smaller. So it seems to be a size issue. However they advertise a battery extension cap for the mini to use a longer and larger capacity battery. Wouldn't it just be the same as using the regular Provari? If I wanted the larger battery in the mini with an extension cap, wouldn't it be the same as just getting the regular Provari instead? Other than size, what are the advantages of the mini over the regular?

Just purchased a Provari and wished I'd have gone with my first thought. I went in with the idea of buying a Provari mini and an extension cap so I'd have options but when I thought about it I realized that no matter what I did it was going to be larger than the twists I've been using so just went with the Provari.

If I end up liking it as well as I think I'll probably go ahead and buy the mini at some point.

I bought my Mini with end cap yesterday, and for obvious reasons, I haven't received it yet so I can't say for sure. (ProVape lies, their 3-5 day processing time was only 3-5 hours.) but the Mini with cap is 3.98" long compared to 4.1" for the base ProVari, so very similar. ProVape's declaration that "[the Mini] contains all the great features of the larger model in a smaller more compact version" made me look at the relative sizes compared to what I was used to.

From the dimensions on the product pages, the base Mini is roughly the same length as the 280mAh 510 batteries that I started vaping with, the maxed out ProVari is roughly the same length as the 1000mAh eGo battery that I upgraded to. Both have a smaller diameter than the 30mL juice bottles. No idea on weights though.

I didn't think I needed a 18650 battery, so I chose the Mini instead of the full-sized ProVari.

If you get a mini look at getting the Twins Telescopic Extension Cap that way you can use all 1800 sized batteries 18350, 18500 and 18650. They are nicely threaded and will take a pounding mine is two years old and sill looks as good as new - wish I could say the same for the cerecote finish - then again I'm hard on my gear too :)

My blog on the Provari: WHY PROVARI?

The Mini and the standard Provari are exactly the same, with the same electronics and feature set, only different in their length due to the battery used. Same diameter between the two.

When considering between the two, try to imagine how you would use it. As a portable pocket-friendly device (Mini), or as more of an at-home device for longer battery time (standard).

I have three Provari's. Two standards and a Mini. The Mini is my overall favorite for the above reasons. It is the most versatile, as I can make it bigger but I can't make the standard smaller. If I'm away from home for several hours or more, an extra 18350 battery in a plastic carrying case in my pocket insures I'll be good to go all day long.

I have the Tatroe Mod extension rings which allow me to go from the 18350 battery to either the 18490 battery (one extension ring) or the 18650 battery (two extension rings). I use the Mini in all three battery modes, depending upon the situation, my mood, or what batteries I have charged and ready.

I also use the Provari Tatroe end cap if using a pyrex tank, to prevent the Provari from accidentally falling over and possibly cracking the glass. Even with this base on, it still fits easily in a front pants pocket, tank side in first.

The standard mini uses 18350 batts. With the extension cap you can use 18500 batts. The reg provari uses 18500 batts. With the extension cap, you can use 18650s. IMHO there is no real advantage either way. It all comes down to mod size preferance. Personally i prefer the larger batteries. Less change over, far less frequency of charging means longer over all battery life on the larger ones. The provari with the 18500 isnt very big. Its the same size or smaller than my vamo v5 with a 18350 battery in it.

Hi and welcome to ECF :)

The mini with an extension lets you use it as either size depending on your preference for that moment. The regular one is just one size. Beyond that - the difference is personal preference :)

Yep... I agree. With the mini you have that bit of a stealth factor when you don't want to tote around a large device. However, those times that you want longer battery life you can just add the extension. :toast:

This is a no-brainer. Get the Mini. You can add extension tubes to make it any length. The standard Provari, though, will always use an 18490/18500 or larger battery, but cannot be a Mini. The extensions are nice, but limited. Consider the CigTechs Extensions and wide base:

I never use my standard Provari any more, though I use my mini in both 18350 and 18650 size all the time, depending on whether I'm home or out. It just give you more options. Also, my mini is the silver finish which also looks great with the many available add-ons including the extensions, caps, cones, etc. A shot:

See how the mini's have more options? Wish I had three mini's to tell you the truth. Good luck!
