Hello everyone.
I recently made the switch to carto tanks. I found all of my clearos to be a PITA except for my iClear30. It is a dual and burns up juices faster than I can drink them, but I do like it.
I purchased 2 VVV PolyPros and I have a VVV Pyrex and an IbTanked on the way.
I am finding however that compared to my experience on black wrapped boge standared LR Cartos that my flavor in the tanks is actually much weaker?? I am using stainless boge standard LR cartos in my tanks.

Is this somehow the norm? Is this some continuation of the limited reading I have done on "Boge-gate"? Were the stainless cartos the items with the issue compared to black wraps (I say this tongue in cheek).

Have I been unlucky with the 3 SS boges from two different suppliers I have tried in my tanks? Did I get unusually lucky with an amazing pack of blacks?
What's your experience?

Thanks in advance for your time, and as always the amazing opinions, advice, and assistance from the good peeps here at ECF!

I can't sincerely comment on the Boges as I haven't used them since a very limited trial that happened to be during the early phase of Bogegate.

I've been using cartotanks almost exclusively for almost a year. I began using Smokteks and within the last 3 - 4 months I switched to Ikenvape cartos. My experience has been the tanks provide better duration and consistancy than carts used alone. I've also found better flavor and consistancy with cartotanks than clearotanks (clearomizers and vivi nova). I'm using 2.5ohm-3.0 ohm single coil carts in my pyrex tanks.

Not much more to comment on than that. What battery device(s) are you using? Have you tried standard resistance carts in your tanks?

I've written several articles on cartomizers and tanks in my blog. Click the link under my avatar.

Thanks Baditude,
I agree completely about Clearos I've stopped using mine.
I haven't tried smoks, and Ikenvapes is always out... you must have them all :)
I'm not at all disappointed with my tanks, I love them and wish I had known about and gone this route from the beginning. I've just noticed the flavor for me has been slightly muted compared to a plain carto.
Why the SR instead of LR for you? This is interesting to me...I haven't tried a SR. I will pick up a pack this weekend and give them whirl, but interested in the why. I do use single coils.
I'm using two Vamos as the mods for my tanks.

SR Boge xl punched cartos are all I've used in my tanks for 6+ months and the flavor is great. If I'm vaping on watts I usually vape these at 8 or 8.5 watts. If volts 4.8 to 5.2 volts. Any clearos including the Iclear30 tastes muted compared to my carto/tanks. Most of my juices run around 65/35 pg/vg.

I prefer a cooler vape (smoother) compared to a warmer vape (too harsh). This could be because I was a menthol smoker before I quit. I got the same experience with dual coil carts; I find the single coils are smoother and not so likely to get a burnt taste.

Therefore, on a fixed voltage, mechanical device I like 2.0 - 2.5 ohms. On variable voltage devices, I prefer 2.5 - 3.o ohms. This goes in hand with the Safe Vaping Power Chart which many vapors use to help them judge what ohms delivery device to choose for the range of voltage they use. If you look closely at the chart, using a 3.0 ohm delivery device will allow you the full range of 3.4v - 5v that "most" vapors are happy with. http://www.ecigadvanced.com/community/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/power.jpg

Theoretically, if you are using a variable voltage device (ie. Vamo), you shouldn't need low resistance carts as you can adjust your voltage to the delivery device you have. I use whatever voltage best brings out the flavor of my different juices.

For instance, my fruit flavors are best in lower voltage (3.4 - 3.7 volts). My coffee flavors best at 4.0v to 4.5v, and something like a cinnamon best at 4.5 to 5v.

I keep up to a dozen cartotanks up running at any time. I use 3 - 4 flavors a day. No "all day vape" for me....how boring!

If you happen to like a warmer vapor, you may well prefer the low resistance carts. Whatever keeps you off the smokes.

By the way, in case you didn't know, Altsmoke is about to open a brick-and-mortar vape shop and vapor lounge/e-juice bar in the next couple of weeks. It will be located across the parking lot from Jungle Jim's in Eastgate. I'm assuming from your screen name that you live in Cincy.

Yes I'm up in West Chester/Mason. I did know about Alt going in over there. I will check it out. I'm almost to the point where I don't need any more stuff though lol. I'm happy with my 3 PVs, I have DIY stuff, 2 poly pro tanks, 2 inbound in the mail (a VVV Pyrex and an IBTanked), I'll try a Phinny next. I also use an AGA-T.
I have read the links you posted before, thank you for sharing them though. Your posts/blogs got me in to wanting to try carto tanks, and I tried some plain cartos first before getting a tank and loved the flavor off of them, I've just found it slightly muted in the tank... There is a juice that I love in a plain 1.8 carto that I'm not getting the same flavor from in the tank yet. (I started originally on Vision Vivi's, and had silica wicked my AGA breifly etc...I don't like my clearos and didn't like the whole burning silica and threads...one clearo made my mouth feel like a silica porcupine was living in my mouth.) I hadn't really considered a SR to change flavor before your last post I had considered temperature, I do like my vapes a little warmer still. I have a coffee that tastes plasticy to me I may have to try on a SR to see if it is the liquid or not.
I'm familiar with VV vs VW and I use VW 80% of the time. I got my first Vamo about 5-7 days after trying my first ecig. I have had to install the washer etc. I'm not really a noob with the device. Just trying to tweek my cartotank experience now. It's hard to know what is normal for a tank and what is my juice because I'm new to tanks.
There isn't anything that would get me to go back to analog. It smells bad to me now, and I have other reasons also.
I really appreciate all of your posts and insight Bad. Maybe sometime we will have a vape-meet. Would be great to meet some people.

I can envision a vape meet or a even a relatively unstructured vape group possibly getting together to meet each other and compare our vapes and try different juices. Having a vape lounge such as Altsmoke is designing could be an ideal meeting spot as most bars and restuarants (that I'm aware of) are not vape friendly.

I look forward to meeting you sometime, and good luck with the tanks.
