Hey guys, I'm about to ask something on the strange side, so bear with me. I ordered some gold Wow vapor cartos a few months back, and they were wonderful. The best blanks I'd tried by a long shot. Once those were dead and gone, I re-ordered. This time I got red ones. These were (and are) not so good. Thin, wispy vapor for the most part, a kind of "whistling sound" on the draw. Just disappointing. I'm not a fan of the flavored cartos, but the ones I've tried all had good performance, comparable to my first gold blanks.

Anyway, TL;DR: Have you guys noticed performance variations between colors, or did I just get unlucky with my reds?

I think its just luck of the draw. The cartos are mass produced the labels added after fillings so the performance issues span over batch runs....so the color is unrelated.

mr. snow's certainly the expert, but from my limited experience I have to agree it's kind of random. sometimes out of a blank box that are all the same type and color one may perform a little differently. different juices could make a difference, too

I have had a bum batch of cool-carts before but they were light blue. Aside from that one box though the rest have been fairly consistent. Some hold more juice than others but they all have produced good vapor.

Indeed, it is kind of random. I've bought a lot of different colored blanks for color comparison purposes, and what I've determined is it has more to do with how tightly the filler material is wound and less to do with the actual color of the cart. I've had some perform better than others, but none totally unusable.

Capable...might I step in and make a suggestion that may just help with the airyness of those cartos?

on the bottom...take either a screwdriver, or I use forceps or needlenose pliers.....take the post on the carto and give it a 1/4 turn clockwise....this will decrease the airflow....a bit....do a little at a time till you get the draw feel you like and then try vapin again.....if this works for your issue..ALL credit goes to Luma....he did a video a few weeks back and I love it!

When the manufacturers label up the cartos, it might be 5,000 cartos that have blue labels or gold labels on them. So if that batch was wound too tightly or too loosely so I guess in a sense it would stand to reason that the bulk of those colors would be affected, however that would change once a new batch arrived for labeling.

As well there could be a difference cartos 4998, 4999, 5,000, and 1 of the next batch.
.....does that make sense...ya that makes sense.

Thanks for this, but I'm familiar with this method. I guess the problem with these isn't so much a loose draw or airyness...those seem fixable using the pliers method...just a kind of overall poor performance. The draw actually feels just right (except for the weird squeaky/whistling sound, but then there's little throat hit and little vapor. But like I said, that first batch I got was amazing, so I'm not really criticizing V4L. I was just curious about the color issue.

Throat hit....little vapor.... Have tried adjusting (raising) the battery post? Those are generally symptoms of a weak connection.

Cool, I was gonna point you to the video....but you apparently you got this handled. The only other thing I could mention is cleaning your battery connector. A toothpick does a good job of scraping out the black/green gunk from around the battery post and a sewing needle works great to clean out the air intake holes under the threads. Those holes just run into the ring around the post, but this fill up with gunk too.
