I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that they're horizontal coils, just because I've yet to see an 808d carto that wasn't.

Also, if for some reason they aren't horizontal coils, any kanger 808d carto will be. (kanger only makes horizontals)
Tapped out on a phone... I think

OK thanks. I had vertical coil boge cartos for my ego. And those dumb things burned like every 3rd hit  it's no wonder people don't recommend them often, I still use my 808 si ones for certain flavors and testing certain flavors . I threw all those boges in the trash after fussing with it all for a few days

Sure thing! The ONLY way I use a boge is in a carto tank... Don't have to worry about them going dry as long as its primed right.

For actual hot carto-on-battery action, I use either the Halo blanks (LR on a G6 is a solid easy to carry vape) or the kanger 808ds.

I tried ikenvape cartos, and they are supreme, but damned near impossible to get. Haven't tried any smoktech ones since the first one I tried... Just wasn't a fan.

...but it's not just the orientation that causes that: it's also the construction, and the filament size.

It's just funny cus everywhere else on the forum most use 510 or ego devices. And almost everyone will say they hate cartos unless it's in a tank and they always tell people using cartos to upgrade. Which, no, they're not the best delivery device out there at all. But the most recommended ones for 510 were by boge, which then explained why everyone hates them. I went with same ohms, recommended vendor, blah blah blah

Other than the hotter vape and hassle of filling, the 808 kinds I've tried so far have all been great and in no way compare besides looks.

I love my Halo tanks, but in my opinion a cartotank is a level up from any clearomizer I've used (at least those from IB Tanked) and gives way more vapor and flavor, and an RDA up from that. However, not all cartotanks are the same in my opinion. But in spite of all that I love my Halo setup for ease of popping in the purse - and people don't give you the 'what the hell is that' stare :p

Yeah, I don't think I'll ever catch the carto-tank crave. Maybe I just don't get it.

I see it as a very-long lasting carto, but I still prefer my Triton (T2), over cartos. It's slimmer, and gives more vapor and flavor than a carto.

I'd like to try a cartotank, maybe I will someday, but I don't wanna spend the money right now on it because I've only just found triton tanks and how simple they are to use with so much better flavor than before. I'm one of those drag my heels people, took me forever to decide to start vaping, then I was convinced I absolutely wouldn't be caught dead with anything bigger than cargos and cig a likes. Now I've wasted a ton of money on different toppers trying to find something that worked, started getting mad at all of them, then just decided if these Triton tanks didn't work I was going back to cig a likes and only vaping in places or times I couldn't smoke. I've since tossed all the other clearos and I'm recommending these things to everyone that asks for something for a beginner, I wish I'd known a long time ago how easy halo is to learn

The mini tank is a carto - tank.

Right?

Nope. A carto tank has a carto inside it, you fill the carto then screw the tank on around it then fill the tank. Keeps you from getting dry hits etc as long as you fill the carto really well the first time. And from what I've heard all you have to do for about 2 weeks is keep the tank semi full, then after 2 weeks take it all apart, change carto, and so on. At least that's the jist I get around other threads, I'm probably entirely wrong :p

They're not at all top heavy - no bigger than many clearos but bigger than the Triton tanks. I change the carto in my tanks about every couple of weeks and just refill in the meantime. Priming properly is key, but it only takes a few minutes. It is important, to buy a good tank though - mine don't leak at all - and that is much more expensive than the Triton tank. The downside is the one that wouldn't look top heavy on the Triton (I think) wouldn't hold much juice, so you're better sticking to the Halo tanks with the Halo gear imo.

It seems even more fuss free than these tritons, my concern is that they look huge and top heavy, and the coil gunker juices, how often do you have to change the carto then?

Thanks for the info! I'll consider it I'd love to try one, which means I need more vaping friends in the area lol or to find a good one in the classifieds. Which means hubby needs to work more overtime hahahaha.

Also, from what I'm reading ibtanked is the brand to stick with right? Seems like the others have tons of issues

Yes, mine are all from IB Tanked - absolutely rock solid and I've never had one leak (even when flying, although I had them in the 'thingy' which is the little container it ships in).

What cartos do you use with your IB Tanked? Boge, Smoketec? What resistance?

I have both Boge (unflanged) and Smoketec (flanged) at (I think) at 3.2 ohms - generally run anywhere from 3.9-4.5. I have some 2ohm on order, which I got for custards and a warmer vape - but as I live in So Cal the warm vape is generally something I don't want! I prefer the flanged just because it's easier to change drip tips without worrying about pushing the carto through (messy LOL) :) I've been waiting for the Fusion Ikenvape to be back in stock, but it looks as if it's going to take awhile.
