The GLV-2 is my first 5v mod. It is burning up all my 2.6-2.8 ohm cartomizers (actually pretty cool because I can use them as a flashlight for about 5 seconds). What is the recommended resistance at 5v?

It really shouldn't be burning them up at 2.6-2.8 I have a few 2.0 ohm that are going strong. I have found that my boge 3.0's give the best flavor and don't suck the juice down as much.
The GLV shouldn't be burning up LR cartos unless the cartos are defective or the GLV resistor is blown. Is there any discoloration inside your head-cap? That may be an indication that the resistor is blown and you're vaping in excess of 5v.
Russ (6pointprime) did some research on carto/atty resistance and posted the results here & it's a good short read with video "evidence" to support his findings.
Maybe LR cartos don't last as long as SR but I use both and haven't burned any out even after more than a week of heavy use. In my experience, they just wick (or absorb) less liquid after long-term usage.

The heatshrink that Jay put around the resistor has split (I assume from heat continuing to shrink it) but other than that the innards look ok.
My heatshrink has been split from day one. Were all the carto's from the same batch?
I've never had any luck with any carto below 3ohm. I've tried all different kinds and, still, my favorite is V4L coolcarts on my GLV2. They run about 3.4ohm and last me 2hrs of heavy vaping. They get hot, but never burn unless I run them till they are dry (I try not to do that too often!)
Ok, tried some old atomizers and they last longer but they still light up like a lightbulb and eventually burn out. This is with a couple seconds of power. Does 5v normally heat up the element that much?
Talked to Jay and was reassured that it was most likely the atty's. Of course, Jay was completely wrong. He apparently didn't take into account operator error or was just trying to be nice. I normally fill multiple cartomizer's at one time so that I don't have to fuss with them. I think what happened was in my haste to try my GLV-2, I just filled some new carts and I wasn't allowing the wicks to saturate and was hitting dry. Either that or as Jay said I may just have found the bad atty's in the bunch.
All fixed it seems and since no one else has mentioned this anywhere, the GLV-2 is a great mod.
