I've only had my 808 for a few weeks now and I'm new to cartomizers, so I'm hoping you'll help me out. When I ordered my 808, it included 7 black cartomizers. I also ordered a pile of supercheap ugly brown ones, all prefilled that don't perform nearly as well as the black. I've now started refilling some of them. I prefer refilling from the top, and have found the brown ones have a rubber gasket inside and the black ones don't. Why is that and do I need that gasket? I've tried leaving the gasket out and it doesn't seem to make any difference, but am I shortening the lifespan? I'm not expecting a very long lifespan anyway, as they were 2.99/5, but I'm curious about the gasket.

    Somewhere between here and there
I don't use a ton of cartomizers but the ones that I have used and have had that gasket, I take it out. I think that maybe it's supposed to help keep liquid from getting out thru the mouthpiece. I haven't noticed any difference either way as far as life span. After a while I just throw them away when they start tasting funky.

The older ones I've used made by Kanger have had the rubber seal, while newer Boge softcap's I've had don't (different manufacturers make KR808 carto's and they are not all the same). I think it's supposed to provide some extra protection against leaks but if it causes no obvious leaking problems then doing without it won't hurt. BTW the Kanger's do not perform as well as the Boge's IMO.

I agree with Papa about Boges being better than Kanger. The filler is less prone to burning, and they just vape better. My Boges do not have the inner ring. I seem to recall SLBs having them. CE2s have them, and they are IMHO necessary since the juice is not soaked into a filler material, and can leak out if the PV is on its side.
