Hi
Been vaping with vivi novas these few months and been enjoying them so far. But I want to try cartomizers out, but dont know where to start. I believe there are two ways of using them with the tank or without the tank(dripping???). Anyhow I just need some help choosing out some to try. I'll be order some batteries(for vamo) from crystal clear vaping soon so if any are good there then ill add it to my order since its free shipping. I also like to vape higher resistance 2.5-3.0 if that helps.

I just use cartomizers by themselves,,,,,,,never tried them with a tank, but I really find clearos to be a much more muted flavor than cartos alone. I tried mighty hard to like them too  (I'm STILL trying)

As for dripping,,,,,,,you do that with an atomizer, not a carto,,,,,,,a cartomizer has polyfilling inside that you saturate with ejuice and vape. When the polyfill gets dry, you drip more IN, but that's far different than dripping.

if you want to drip, you'll be looking for an atomizer.

I like Kanger cartos,,,,,,,,,,,,although there are many good ones.

Boge, Smokeless Image to name a couple.

I look for the cheapest DECENT carto I can find,,,,,,,,with a KNOWN resistance. I like standard resistance, and I got stuck with low resistance cartos from one company, so I make darned sure to get what I like before ordering,,,,,,

of course, it's important to get the right cartos,,,,,,I buy 808d-1 cartos because DD vapes 808s and I use an adapter for my ego style batts.

so,,,,,,,,,what is the connection on the vamo? I think it's 510, but I'm not certain,,,,,,,,,,

once you know that, you can start searching for the best price (if that's important to you)

Here's where I get my 808s,,,,,,,,,they had the best price for decent name brand ones that I could find,,,,,

The Vamo uses a 510 connection. I use Boge cartos. I get them from Sure vapes. You will want the SR (standard resistances) ones which are 3 ohm. I haven't seen anyone carry it at a lower price unless they there is a sale.

- Boge

I use mine in a tank though. If you want to get into cartos and carto tanks then you need to watch this video. Just about everything you need to know about cartos and carto tanks is in there. From filling to punching cartos and everything in between. A must see for anyone new to cartos and carto tanks.

You can find some helpful information about cartomizers and cartotanks in my two blog articles:

Juice Delivery Devices: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3230-1-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

Cartotank Tutorial: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3710-5-cartomizer-tank-setup.html

Both links have video tutorials. You can expect a typical cartomizer to use about 30 ml of juice (large juice bottle) before needing replaced. Once the draw becomes stiff or the taste degrades markedly, it's time to replace it. Most vapors consume 3 - 5 ml of e-liquid a day, so expect one to last around one week or longer.
____

Carotmizers come in different resistances, or ohm rating:

LR (low resistance) will give a warmer vapor. It may also be too warm or harsh for some, and may burn some flavors.

SR (standard resistance) will give a cooler vapor. It may afford more flavor production, but not have as much vapor.

HR (high resistance) is for variable voltage/variable wattage APV's, and will allow adjusting the atomizers output for a wide range of voltages/wattage.

Cartomizers also are available in single and dual coils. I recommend sticking with the single coils as a beginner.
_____

One usually uses a drip tip, or mouthpiece, on the end of a cartomizer. Since you are not able to see the juice level in a cartomizer, it's recommended to frequently "top off" with additional e-liquid as you vape. A nice thing about a cartotank is that it allows you to use a larger amount of juice before needing a refill, and you can see the juice level in the tank. Cartomizers used in a tank need to have holes in the metal shaft to allow juice from the tank to enter the cartomizer.

There are really two different types of cartomizers. 1. The Kanger type with bottpm coil, and 2. The Boge type with coil embedded within the filler. The Kanger type give a slightly cooler vape; the Boge type slightly warmer and more throat hit. You cannot burn the Kanger type or you cannot do it easily. You can easily burn the Boge type. I use only Kanger type because I have never been able to burn one and you can actually very easily remove the filler, clean and dry it, dry burn the coil at the bottom and reinsert the filler and tube and refill it with juice.

I really enjoy a good carto vape. Boge 2.0 ohm LR's are my favorite so far. Never experienced anything "special" with the Smoktech dual cores, besides the pre-punched ones making tank loading easier.

I also think carto's are a lot more efficient with Juice consumption and flavor delivery. I'll fill a 2.5ml Protank 3 times in a day, a 3ml standard (not XL) carto tank will last well over a day for me. Anyone else notice this, or is it just me?

They're also nice for slapping on a 450mAh or 650mAh ego style battery and throwing in your pocket. I'll sometimes walk around with two 450mAh batteries in my pocket, and a little baggy full of cartos filled with different flavors.

I too burn a protank twice a day but a full carto tank (4ml) I won't finish in a day. The bottom coil does tend to be a juice hog

i dunno.. I use cartomizers to drip..

horizontal's.. they are the best ones to drip, and I heard someone say here.. they had one going for 8+months..

best, cheap way to drip.. might want to check my blog.. you pull that filling and tube out, drip a few drops.. pop a tip on and there ya go. :vapor:

Yep...those bottom coil Kangers make a very cheap dripping atty if you just pull the filler and tube out.
