Either way you look at it, the heat that's produced is going to create vapor inside the atty. So if it produced more heat I'd think that would mean less time on the button so less use. It's not like a resistor outside of the unit that would shed unused wattage as heat. Trying to extrapolate outside my realm here...
I'd say any of the existing or upcoming Super-T PV's / extra batts / a backup and attys of your choosing should be fine for a camping trip...
I'd still take a car or solar charger and a buncha batts.....
