I rotate a couple models e-cigs. 'Bout a month and half ago i was using the KR808. The cartomizers were performing awesome. Easy, flavorful vapor.

Fast forward to last week, i picked them up again. Filled the same way i did with my first batch (taryn's method). WHen i took a drag... holy crap... it was like vaping acid.

I remember an intense throat hit from the first time that lasted about half a cartomizer, then easing up. So i kept using it like that for about two days. Still super harsh unvapable garbage coming out. It never stopped. Just horrible.

I thought maybe the cartomizers i filled were bad, so i cleaned and filled the ones i used before. Same thing. And to this day the bad vapor hasn't stopped.

All the cartomizers are come from the same batch. All of them blanks. And all of them doing the same thing. Back when i first started using it i went through about 8 cartomizers and they never did this. Like i said just great vapor.

I been dealing with this for about a week to week and half and they are still doing this.

Do these things have a shelf life? Being used or unused do they just go bad and stale after a while? Maybe the coil just gets corroded sitting there? The date etched on mine are 11/2009

sounds like you may have burnt the carto's.. when I first started I burnt a few before I realized what I had done.. same nasty "OH MY GOD!" flavor

agreed.

If you have burnt them by vaping too dry, you'll never get rid of that nasty flavor....

Once you've used the cartos for a little while, you'll get the feel for them starting to run low.... slightly less vapor (although, if they get too low, the vapor seems prolific right before their death), and most noticably a decrease in flavor should clue it in...

as long as you keep them filled properly, you shouldnt have the same problems with burning.

hey, guys, i just wanted to restate this:

Filled the same way i did with my first batch (taryn's method). WHen i took a drag... holy crap... it was like vaping acid.

I fit over 1ml of liquid into these cartos. closer to 35 drips, so i doubt theyre burning. They do the acid vape no matter what. And theyre doing it even from a freshly filled carto using the spin fill.

Any other ideas besides burning?

Couldn't tell for sure if you meant that some of these had never been filled before, or if they were all ones you'd used -- I think the responders mean that if the latter, you may have vaped them too dry previously, not that you didn't fill them enough 'this' time. Your description does sound like what ppl encounter with a carto vaped too close to the wire... er, filling before. (That's not fixable, it never goes away.) If you look inside as bornagainst mentioned, do you see any burnt spots?

You probably read the "Bad blanks" thread that popped up around same time as yours; that was a different matter but on page 2 Madame Psychosis mentioned the chemical smell/taste many blanks can have at first (especially if blister packed)... However you've had these awhile so that shouldn't be it.

The cartos definitely wouldn't have gone stale (unless maybe you left the condoms off them) or exceeded shelf life already; shelf life for even prefills is two years. Maybe your juice went bad? Heat and bright light/sunlight can do that... Did you use a thorough cleaning method, boiling or vodka or pure grain alcohol and blowout or a combo thereof... (Have even heard some mention using Coke, maybe that's a method meant for stuck tastes. Actually not sure tho if that's for cartos too or just atties, better check!!)

Maybe the tinkerers in the carto mods forum could help. Well good luck!
