Cartomizers?

Hi Everyone. Name's Jim. I'm a newbie too. Have been smoking 1 1/2 - 2 packs of non filtered analogs for 45 years. Just started vaping, using an 808d-1 and cartomizers, 55 days ago. Had 5 analogs the first two days and haven't smoked any more since. I use the condom method to refill but I pull the tip out so that I can see the packing with the hole in the center. Then I fill the condom up and slowly push the cartomizer, battery side down, down into the condom. When the liquid gets to the top of the hole in the filler I stop pushing and give it a few seconds to soak into the filler material and then push down again repeating the stop when the liquid gets to the top of the hole and allowing the liquid to soak in. I never allow the liquid to cover the top of the filler. It seems to have an adverse overfill response if I do. Then I use a broom straw to clear out the hole of juice and wipe the battery end clean. This has been working great for me. Also, when the filler gets dirty and the draw gets harder I steam out the catomizer and it comes out snow white again and pretty much dry. Hope this helps. Then I just pop the tip off and drip directly onto the filler material.
One thing that I learned is that once a Cartomizer is filled, if I can gently blow thru the Cartomizer, and any juice comes out, then the Cartomizer is Too full. Put a paper towel over the battery end and give it a gently blow. Be sure to wipe the end of the Cartomizer before putting it on your battery. They dont hit as well when they are too full. Also if you can hear gurgleing then it is a good sign that you put too much juice in.
Another thing I found is if the Cartomizer does draw enough air, You can gently push a straighten out paper clip from the battery end until it come out the filler material. Then you can roll the Cartomizer on the paper clip to open up the center air passage.
If the Cartomizer draws to much air, you can plug one of the small side holes with a toothpick sanded down to a fine point.
For maximum lifespan, I believe that you shouldnt vape the Cartomizer until it is completely dry. I use two cartomizers a day. At noon I switch to another one even though the first isnt drained.
You can also rise out Cartomizers with warm tap water if you want to get rid of some factory juice or if you put Cinna-Bomb into your Watermelon carto.

I was just using the "condom method" to fill and flooding many of my blank cartos with 30 drops. Last night I started using the "CM" AND the spin method and got 37 drops in one carto with NO flooding at all! AWESOME combo for filling.
just got 25 carts at a great deal. Hope this improves my new found pleasure in vaping
Thanks so much for the post tiraggi, I just ordered some Turbo cartos from Vapornine a few days ago and am anxiously awaiting their arrival. It's good to hear approval. I have been vaping Turbos (Gold Label) from another supplier and really love them, but they have run out of stock, so I am very hopeful for the Vapornines.
I have a Nomad(screwdriver) I got from strictlyejuice, with a adapter and cartomizers. Like them very much so far. This was my answer.
What are you using to steam clean these things? I hadn't though about doing that to clean them out, but it seems like it's working for you. If what you're using isn't too cost prohibitive, I may look into investing in one.

I've been using e-cigs since June 2008. I pretty much settled on Jane as my supplier for pen style e-cigs and her Toasted Toffee, 555, and Abandon Mint KicK Liquids. I get other flavors and also do DIY from time to time. I've also tried 510 and 901 models. I was curious about these cartomizers, so she sent me a pack to try. I think the ones she sells are KR808 and they need a different battery. So far, I've just tried what she sent and I really like them. They last a really long time. I think there is an improvement in how the taste comes through and its consistency. The draw is nice and easy and just right for me. And the vapor is a bit warm too. I am electronically challenged so there is a lot I don't understand, but I think the wick and wire running up through the center, instead of just sitting at the bottom, makes a big difference and really improves how these things act, taste, and feel.
The KR808s are a lot like a 901. 901s have great flavor, but they were a bit "noisy" and also didn't hold very much liquid. The KR808s sound like a 901 (which really is a minor thing and not an issue). The 510s however, don't make a sound. I'm still trying to figure out if they have a better flavor or not (regular cartridges) than the pen styles.
I also learned there are 510 cartomizers, so I'm wondering about those too now. Anybody have any experience with them?

I would be interested in hearing more about this also.
I was sure that Someone had probably done a Poll like that before but I could find one.
HarborFreight has all kinds of things like this. Just beware that their power tools are so-so. Fine for one time or occasional use, but they do not stand up to day in day out use that a contractor might subject them to. But as for things like these Stainless Steel picks, their prices are great. I took one of the picks and filed off the point because it was just too sharp. Ended up cutting the length in half so it would fit in my e-Cig tool box, a divided plastic tray that came with an assortment of nuts, bolts and washers.
Hi Doxilla. I got the SteamFast Handheld Kitchen and Bath Steam Cleaner from Walmart. It was $39. Has a pointed nozzle, perfect for cartomizers, and plenty of pressure. Heats up in a few minutes and I cleaned 20 carts, filler came out almost snow white and no smell and almost dry, in about 15 minutes. I still let them dry for a few hours and put them in a paper cup and fill six with my DIY juice and let them sit for a day. Then I drip a couple of drops in the cartomizer from the battery side and start vaping. I bought 30 carts when I first started, 56 days smoke free, and tried soaking but was too much trouble. This is simple and haven't lost a cart since the first 3 I tried to soak.
Well I got my first 5 blank cartomizers for my week old eGo in the mail yesterday. And so the latest escalation in my new "hobby" appears to have begun. So far I've rotated between just the first 2 using the same juice flavor and no need to clean yet.
Satisfied with my initial impression and knowing me I see experimentation on the near horizon. 5 is not enough to both experiment with and depend on for daily use so I'll probably be ordering another 10 or 20 before the sun sets. I imagine cleaning and reuse will comprise the bulk of my tinkering but who knows!?
While great after only a week using the high ping cart mod it appears I've graduated. I'm on the road a lot and don't have time for messing around with refilling carts and screwing with cart fillers. For those of you on the fence still I do highly recommend the high ping cart mod. But for me I may have reached the point of no return.
The new obsession continues...
