Cartridge filling

Hi, Being a new user i cannot post in all discussions but was reading on the filling of cartridges (the material used) i picked up from some other forum that some people use FLUVAL which is the filter for fishtanks. As it happens i bought some (very cheap) as you only use a tiny amount of it at a time. It lasts me nearly a week and i am a heavy vapour. Hope this thread reaches the particular forum.

I use the inside of a tiki torch wick. It wicks a lot better than aquarium filter foam.....after all....it's a wick.

I would be concerned that a tiki wick would have some chemical on it.
and what is it made out of?

I just Googled it, and although some are made of braided cotton, most of them are made out of fiberglass.
I'm not sure that's something you want to be heating up and inhaling from.

It doesn't heat up, it just wicks juice down to the bridge on the atty. is aquarium filter foam or a scotchbrite pad something you would be comfortable with heating up and inhaling from, or polyester batting for that matter?

I've been using synthetic pillow filler. Occassionaly I use a brown paper coffee filter. I do have some concern over synthetic materials, as I have glazed filler materials before by letting it get too dry.
