CE2 Clearomizer Dry Burn?

I've seen videos showing how to do a dry burn with CE2 cartomizers and the atomizer gets white hot, wouldn't that melt the plastic shell of a clearomizer?

You can take the shell off the clearomizer and put back on. I wouldn't dry burn w/ it on. Some are but there's a fine line between melting it and not.

I tired it with the shell once just to see what happened but wouldn't recommend it.
It gets real hot and it seems to take forever before the coil burns red. Surprisingly it didn't hurt the shell.

Edit: I should add that it was modded with a syringe.
