I recently purchased a couple of packs of CE2 XLs at 2.8ohms from CoV. I opened one of the boxes and checked one of the CE2s, and it measured in at 3.2ohms, so I opened a second, and that one was 3.3ohms. I expected some variance, maybe plus or minus a tenth, maybe two tenths, but four and five, that seems a little much. At first I didn't really think it was going to be a big deal, but I found that I have a couple of other CE2s from another vendor, one is 3.0ohms and one is 3.3ohms, and there's a huge difference (to me) in the way they vape. I very much prefer the lower rating especially since I use 3.7v in either my SB or my Prodigy V1. Now, I don't blame CoV for this, they are just the reseller, and I did send them an email from their website asking for some guidance. I just wanted to see if anyone else is noticing the same thing. I'm relatively new to the CE2 and although I've read about the past quality issues, I didn't come across this one in particular.

Agree hairball, this is not ok and Bruce doesn't appreciate it, RS needs to get their act together. It puts vendors in a tough spot, even with the problems/qc issues, people want these things, so a vendor carries them because of the demand, but also gets beat up for RS's mistakes as well.

(im not saying anyone is beating up on cov here, just explaining the thought process)

regardless of ohms, most any of the ce2's will vape fine at 3.7v with a MapTank. The diff for me comes in getting that little bit extra "kick" of vapor, if I can get a 2.5 vs 3.2 ohm ce2. I also think with lower ohms at 3.7v the coil stays cleaner, which means more tanks between cleaning. I do agree that ce2's are pretty useless if you're looking for just out of the box performance at a specific ohm level that you ordered and payed for. The only reason I'm a fan of them is due to the MapTank and my Provari. Given those factors, the ce2's inconsistencies disappear and they are a great, inexpensive and long-lasting atty solution. But I agree..wish they'd get their act together! Good luck!

I just threw a couple of 3.0V batts in my Prodigy to see how that would go...I wasn't impressed, liquid was burning, not tasting so good at higher volts...I may end up getting a ProVari at some point, so these may not be a total loss, but it is irritating as hell to order something at a given specification and receive something totally out of that spec.

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here. I'm thinking that the ohms rating is on the coil before the wire is soldered in. By adding the wire, it raises the ohms total measurement of the atty at the connector. Don't know if bigbuyer can confirm this or not with Royal Smoker, I'm just guessing. I might just have to trash a CE2 sometime to try to confirm this to satisfy my thoughts on the discrepancy.

I have never found an atomizer that has exactly the resistance the factory says. Over the years I have notice that atomizers vary from 0-1 ohm. You cant expect too much from those atomizers to this issue

I find the same except in the CE2's they are always several points higher than rated ohms. That's what leads me to believe that the length of wire is adding to the resistance and the ohm rating is strickly for the coils.

There are so many variables to vaping, different mods, batteries, the connector, the switch, the amount of time you have the switch on, they type of liquid you use......
How does it vape? Would you detect the difference if you didn't measure it? That's kind of how I roll because battery math gives me a headache! ;) Sometimes not knowing the tiny differences is a good thing. Kinda like getting a tiny faint scratch on your new car, if you don't notice you love your car, as soon as you detect it, it drives you batsht crazy!
