I had just filled an Echo carto and I noticed that the hole wasn't centered so I was gently realigning it with a paperclip when the little post at the bottom popped out.

This is a new one one me - I didn't even know that it could be detached from the carto.

It looks like the little silicone covered post inside an adapter so I slid it back inside, making sure it still low enough to make contact with the battery, but it's not working.

Is there anything I can do about this?

If i not mistaken, that center post that poped out is the pos end of carto. and threads is the neg. If the silicone wasn't there it woulda shorted out before power hits the coils. try holding down the button while you twist the carto. Might find the spot where it fires. I know I have 1 atty that the silicone expanded till it was poping out so I ripped it off. THere is still some in there but if it is screwed in too tight it will short out for me anyway. When it poped out did you see a tiny wire on it? If it poped out and no wire connecting then it probably trash now. It mean the solder point broke.
