The only medical grade material I've heard of that works as a wick in a rebuildable is 100% cotton surgical gauze. People have used Nextel XC-116. You have to burn it with a torch to get the sizing off before use.
I know that healthcabin has some ceramic cartos in their clearance area. Super cheap too. I know nothing about them so I'll pass though. I'm not going back to contantly topping off cartos any time soon anyway.
