Hi all,

This is just my second post.

I have an alien smok 220 device and I vape at 40W.
I used to smoke about 10-15 cigarettes a day and now I vape roughly around the same time I used to smoke my analogs. I usually take about 5-10 deep puffs each times of 6mg.
I noticed that brings me at about 6-9 ml a day ! or 3 carto's a day.

When I compare this to others this seems to be a lot. I hear and read on average people vape 2-5 ml a day.

So my question : A friend told me his alien smok consumes more e-liquid than his other smaller device. Could it be true that my alien smok 220 consume a lot more e-liquid than most devices ?
Thank you

Welcome @jijiflats and I hope you enjoy your stay!

I am using the Alien with the Baby Beast and the Quad or X4 coils and was pretty surprised how the first tank full was gone in less than an hour! The tank I use that gets good e-Liquid Economy is the Nautilus Mini or the Nautilus X. Remember more cloud and flavor requires more e-Liquid to produce.

Good Luck and Vape On Safely!

Hello @jijiflats. Welcome to ECF!, glad to have you on the forum with us.

E-liquid consumpsion depends on a few different factors like wattage, atomiser, even how you vape DL or MTL.

The device itself will not cause more liquid to be consumed but the wattage you use it at and the atomizer you use on it.

Like @mongo74 said if your using anything with 'beast', in the name juice consumpsion will generally be high.

I vape around 20ml a day.

Thx guys !!

@mongo74 @opticruby
Man I'm such a noob.
I just bought my alien 1.5 weeks ago (loving the experience, not missing cigarettes at all). It was already equiped with what I presume is a "cartomizer" and one spare coil. The shop dude said I need to change the coil every 4-6 weeks ("you'll notice a burn taste").

Additional Question 1 :
What is this "beast" I keep reading about ? Is that the cartomizer itself ?
The only text I see on my coil seems to say "baby" or something and "best at 55-65W").

Additional Question 2 :
What is sub-ohming (and pro's and con's) ? When I vape at 40W, am I subohming ?

Thx again ! Much appreciated !

Many factor cause more e-Liquid to be consumed because of the simple change Aspire made to the BVC coils by enlarging the holes in the metal exposing more cotton caused the Nautilus Mini to use more e-Liquid. On my Pangu Tank e-Liquid flow is adjustable and that allows some control over e-Liquid consumption. Big tanks and big multiple coil atomizers are like big engines!

@jijiflats You're welcome and welcome to ECF.

There are a number of tanks made by Smok with the moniker Beast in them (yours happens to be the Baby Beast, then there's the Big Baby Beast and the TFV8 Cloud Beast and a TFV12 Beast King as well)

The latter three use much larger coils vs the Baby Beast and juice consumption is even higher with them.

Your very welcome, @jijiflats.

'Beast', is an atomizer made by 'smok', an e-cigarette company. It sounds like you may own the 'baby-beast' or 'big-baby-beast'.

Sub-ohming, is bigger clouds, warmer vape but much, much less battery life and more juice consumption, as your expriencing.

Sub-ohming uses a coil with a resistance lower than 1ohm.

Ok thx again. We're getting there ;)

The Ohm level on my display says 0.416 Ohms (haven't touch any default settings).
So is that "sub-ohming" what I'm doing technically ?
And if so, should I raise the Ohms to more than 1 ohm when I just don't want to "sub-ohm" just yet ?
Or do I need another coil altogether ? Cause my coil says "0.4 ohms" apparently.

You cannot adjust ohms on the fly.
You must change the coil. Resistance usually printed on the coil head.
You own an atomizer, Not a cartomizer.
Vape on..

I don't worry too much what the coil says, the power you run your mod (on a device that gives you variable watts) at is the relevant factor.
Sub-ohm is an expression that came about because people used coils less than 1.0ohm to create more vapor than a regular (cig-a-like/eGo) or basic mod e-cigarette.
The e-cigarette industry and users have adopted the expression to describe more powerful set-ups usually paired with 'direct to lung' inhales with more airflow.
Technically, there is also cross-over. Today I am vaping a 1.2ohm coil at 14w, mouth to lung. Nothing about that is Sub-ohming i.m.o.
If I used a 0.75ohm coil from the same brand, the coil is Sub-ohm but I am still vaping at 14w.
In my other set-up today I am running 38w with a 0.5ohm coil. That is definitely Sub-ohming.
We/you could choose to use a 0.5ohm coil and run it at less than 18w, inhale mouth to lung and then it's not really Sub-ohming as a type or style of Vaping i.m.o.

I know... it's kind of confusing, but just because a coil is either under or over 1.0ohm is not the full story.
A really good set-up could allow you to vape a 1.2ohm coil at 20-30 watts and inhale direct to lung - not a Sub-ohm coil but definitely vaping a certain way.

Anyway... what I am trying to say is don't get hung up on the Sub-ohm thing. Some low resistance coils will not vape well at low power, so vapers looking for a standard vape should look at using a different coil.

Your tank is a tank, not a cartomizer. A cartomizer hardly exists these days.
You won't get 4-6 weeks using a coil... I'm afraid that is marketing nonsense. Plan on getting a week with highly flavored liquids and nearer two weeks with lightly flavored liquids.

The more power you use, the more liquid gets vaporized... which is the name of the game.
A 36w vape will use juice twice as fast as an 18w vape and four times as fast as a 9w vape, although even that is based on similar coil design.

There are no 1 ohm coils for the Beast family (the only way to hit 1 ohm is via a rebuildable deck and making your own coils, which I would not recommend to a novice)

You can, however, get an atomizer like the Aspire Atlantis that does have 1 ohm coils. Bear in mind, you will not be running these at 40w.

PS. I now vape less than 6 or 7ml a day.

I started vaping about 2 or 3ml a day of 18mg. (eGo + clearomizer)

If I vape at home (short sessions) at 30, 40 or 50 watts, then I prefer 3mg but can manage 6mg. I have vaped at 100w and didn't much like it.

Generally, I vape at about 15w with up to 6mg. If I never touched my 'big boys toys' hardware then I would vape less than 4ml in a day.

Yeah that sounds about right... The Alien kit will produce a lot of vapor in turn use a lot of liquid..

Don't get me wrong it's a good kit but there's plenty of kits out there that won't drink a lot of juice and give you a decent amount of vapor...

Vapewiz Pollux 25 kit is pretty much the best starter kit I've seen since I started vaping for people that want more vapor than most starter kits offer but doesn't drink as much juice and is easy to use.... Just wish it had a RBA but the coils do last a long time...

Automobiles and and vape devices have some things in common. You can buy a porsche/lambo etc. or a Chevy/Ford and all will get you from point A to point B. If you are into clouds, sub - ohms is all good. As to taste, your buds can suck up just so much flavor, whether sub-ohm'g or non sub-ohm'g.
