I ordered a couple of the Panasonic CGR18650CH batteries, but because they are not button top, they would not work inthe Provari.

I scratched the top contact to get through the plating, and then put a drop of solder on the top connection.

Wala! They now work in the Provari, and the usage time is fantastic.

The reason that I stated to scrape the top button to get through the plating is so that the solder will adhere to the tab.

Using a 850 degree iron provides a quick and solid tack, and prevents having to hold the heat on the tab for a prolonged period of time. This prevents the heat from transferring to the battery.

I don't think that the solder blob can come loose, as there is considerable lateral pressure on the blob when inserted into the charger.

I will definitely report any incidents should they occur.

I know that Orbtronic also now has the battery with the Button Top.

I'm not a cheap skate, but I'll save the $1.32 and just put the drop of solder on the tab. LOL

I certainly agree that they are awesome batteries.

Orbtronic is carrying these with a button top now. The only place I know of that is carrying them.

They also work with a spacer.

That said. I love these batts. Better mah rating, don't get as hot as fast as the AWs and are cheaper as well..

After seeing your post about it elsewhere on the forum I picked up one from them with the button top. I must agree with you in loving these batts. I it in my provari Monday morning around 8am and didn't get home until around 8 that night. It still had a charge around 3.9volt left.

I got the button tops and after a couple of charge cycles they are lasting 2 days at between 3 to 5 ml of juice a day running 4.3 to 4.8V and 2.8 ohm. They do need a couple of cycles to gain full capacity. I am currently at 1 3/4 days at 3.5V. Anybody know what V the provari cuts out at? I have not run one down to that point yet.
