Wow, philosophy in a vape contest. Ok, here it goes:

The problem with Epicureanism, I think, is that it encourages a withdrawal from public discourse and consideration of weightier matters, primarily because contemplation or engagement in such could (and often do) result in turmoil and pain. Standing up for a political or ethical right is often a difficult process and involves personal sacrifice of the sort that runs counter to the Epicurean teaching of avoidance of pain. Such withdrawal from larger issues encourages a disconnected population, such as the one we currently have in our country today. Many of us espouse our own beliefs, but decline to take action. Voting rates are often quite low (although complaints are quite numerous), people recoil from confrontation--not because the agree with everything that they see around them, but that they do not want to be bothered to become involved. Such disconnect is encouraged in our society through bureaucracy, legal means, and corporatism. I would, therefore, submit that much of our society is unwittingly Epicurean.

I agree with ' fortuitous combination of atoms'
seems to be an apt description of my basic beliefs
The second part, however...
On the surface it seems like this would be ideal
But you cant know what is pleasurable without its opposite.

Im not a very deep thinker :/
