I did a very compulsive thing yesterday lol I was planning on buying my first authentic mech mod. I wanted it to be copper and low volt drop. I also only had around 150$ to spend, well i was set on the XXIX by BCV. It has practically zero VD and is just a beautiful copper mod. Well i could only find it on pre-order so i started looking around for other copper mods. Well ive always wanted a pegasus but they are impossible to get unless you want to spend 3 times the original price, thats when i came across the Changeling, it was way outta my price range but just magnificent, i love that it is copper with a changeable sleeve. Well i didnt have the money nor did i wanna wait over a month so i kept looking, thats when i saw that planet of the vapes had the changeling in stock. i didnt even believe them so i called and they actually had a few. I immediately ran out cashed my check and had to put money on a walmart money card. it came out to about 250$ which is insane. I am a poor person so it was more than half of my check for 2 weeks, i had just enough money left to pay my bills and buy some groceries. I just want to know if anyone else has one yet because i havnt seen a review anywhere. I mean it looks amazing, i love the idea of changeable sleeves and the VD is probably just as low as the pegasus, i dont like that the the button is not recessed but they say they are going to release all kinds of goodies including a recessed button, so i can give them the rest of my money. So anyone out there that has one let me know if its worth me being broke as hell for two weeks as well as my girlfriend being ....... Thanks

I have to ask.

Since you seem to have a limited income why on earth did you need to buy a Mech Mod for half of your 2 week pay check.

Seems kind of foolish to me and I understand why your girlfriend is PO'ed.

I personally would never spend that much money on a TUBE that holds a battery and comes with a SWITCH and a 510 threaded head.

Whatever.

There are too many excellent clones out there. No need to be suffering in the dog house.

I have clones, one good one but no clone ive used was as good as the very few authentic ones ive used. I have a Shenxi Panzer and it is really great for a clone, it has copper contacts and a gold plated atty connection. There are clones out there that are decent, and most get the job done, but i like the artistry involved, there is a giant difference between a unique handcrafted authentic and cheap mass produced clones, also there is a huge difference between the metals used on clones and the high grade metals of an authentic, you cant tell me that there is a single copper clone as good as an authentic because they use cheap copper that stains your hands and stinks. even if it preforms as well as the original that is a huge con. Compared to medical grade copper there is a huge difference. I feel that if a clone is good enough for you than go for it but there is a giant difference. For me If the changeling is as good as i expect it to be, it is worth being broke for a few weeks. Not that i agree with the price of these authentic mods, its absolutely insane to charge 200+ on a metal tube but we as the consumers have said that its ok and until people stop spending 200+ on them that's how its gonna be, and for the people who refuse to spend it there is a multitude of clones out there that are affordable. The way i look at it is that I had enough money for my bills, groceries, and gas. Every time i get paid all of my money is gone in a few days anyway so this time i said .... it. Next pay day im gonna shell out another 100 bucks for a quesar in copper and so on. Most people spend all of there money on food and entertainment, i spend mine on my hobbies. I have an amazing guitar collection and am working on my vape collection, IMO what is the point of working my life away if i cant enjoy the time i have when im not at work. Until the day i have a child to feed that's how its gonna be. Again, if anyone has a changeling i would really love to hear what you think, i have to wait till monday and its killing me.

I say enjoy it you only live once. I agree if you are happy with clones go for but if you find the performance of the real thing better which in every case I have tried it is then go for it. Sorry I have no experience with them but I was looking at picking one up so I will be interested to here what your experience is. On the topic of cost of the real mods I am pretty sure that none of these mod makers are becoming rich I think if you looked into the real costs of producing them, marketing them, putting them together and shipping them it is probably not a huge mark up. Certainly not as much as everyday products we buy all the time.

Thanks man. Yeah your probably right about the price. I have noticed most modders are just people like us that either work at a metal shop or just designed a mod and took it to one. They probably don't make much. Also the fact that they keep there mods limited shows that they're not in it for profit, but that is why I want an authentic, they are pieces of art and I can't wait to flaunt mine with pride lol

While I appreciate the desire to own original mods, I'm not sure what this performance advantage would be. If you look at objective voltage drop tests, many clones have numbers that are inline with the originals and in a few cases, better. As far as being hand built, aren't all mods made using CNC equipment? I'm not sure what is being handmade and if it was truly handmade, I don't think the tolerances would be as good as using computer controlled equipment. Now if you were to say that the tolerances and QC were, generally, a bit better with high end mods, I might agree with you. I have a Stingray clone and while it looks awesome, the switch is a bit jiggly. As far as copper staining your hands, that's what copper does with some people. I personally have not had any issues with that or smell with my copper/red Stingray clone. The Changeling looks awesome and I hope you love it.

Looks awesome.
I currently went through the same thing, I wanted an authentic so I looked and found some and bought an authentic dreadnaut.
You paid your bills, you had groceries, and you found something that makes you happy. I would say you did well.
Next pay check, maybe splurge a little on the girlfriend though lol. She can make you happy in ways that the vape gear can't!

Yeah your probably right about the handmade thing, I do notice a difference in quality though, enough that I would rather pay more for atleast one. Also the copper on the changeling is almost a different metal completely than my ehpro caravella. It's a way prettier color it. My clone patinas in about a week, and not in a good way, and the changeling just changes a tiny bit every few days. I would say that for copper its worth the extra money for an authentic, especially the xixx or vanilla being around 150 but my shenxi panzer actually has a lower vd than the original. Also I already have plans to take my girl somewhere really nice next payday lol

It's probably just a higher grade than some other clones, I was just disappointed in my caravella. The copper just isn't very nice but this changeling has what I wanted, within a few hours of polishing it it gets that almost peach color which I love. I just love copper, I really want the xxix as well, but it'll be awhile before I can buy anything other than DIY stuff and kanthal. I was also looking at getting a infinite copper tobh clone since its only 20 bucks. Damn I wish I had the money some of these guys have to throw at gear.
