Changing from cigs to e-cigs is great... But feels like I've lost my best mate!

I can't imagine what it must be like to smoke 100 cigs a day. Did you just say you just ordered 14 flavors of e-juice? I think you are a consuming phenomenon!

This was when I was on operations or exercise in the Army. It's hard to explain, but imagine the most depressing and desolate experience you can imagine where it's really only acceptable to stop for a minute when you have a cig in your hand. I don't make excused but pretty much everyone did it. I think it was a cultural thing.

And on top of the 14 flavours I've got a 500g (470ml) bottle of 28mg 555 in my room. Just fancied some different flaours. Also I'm mindful of the fact that if I have all the stuff and have invested in it I won't have any excuses to go to the shop and get some normal cigs.

I have found though - that I don't feel the need to vape as much as I did smoke. Maybe it's just me... But whenever I was smoking as soon as I got up in the morning the first thing I did was make a coffee and have a cig. First thing I did when I left the house was have a cig, first thing I did when I got in the car was light up, even at every set of traffic lights I'd light up. Even on dates I'd leave the poor girl sitting inside when I went out for a cig, it's a very very antisocial habbit.

I even remember cleaning my car and stopping to smoke outside it because I didn't want it to stink. I won't have that problem anymore. I remember before any meeting or going to the doctor I would make sure not to smoke so that I didn't smell of it. I'd always carry mints around because I was self concious of it. I remember family members commenting I stink when I walked back in the house... I remember hearing my chest at night and coughing in the morning. Thats all behind me.

My biggest issue is the batteries. I've sort of realised that I need to carry around the one I'm using and a spare with a full charge. It's like having an iphone without a battery indicator. haha.

After a few weeks the smell of a regular cig would turn my stomach. Now almost a year later, they stink, make people stink, and recently tried one again (just for fun)...it tasted like licking an ashtray :p

Just stick with it....you'll be better off in the long run all around.

I'm already finding my sense of smell is much much more powerful. Especially when it comes to cig smoke. I'm really hoping I won't turn into one of the smoking nazis. I remember how annoyed I'd get when people winge about it... I'd think they should get a life and basically despise the serial complainers about it... I really don't want to become that person.

Welcome to ECF, sammym.

By all means, go outside and vape. There's nothing wrong with doing that and if it helps you, it's all good.

I know what you mean about smoking nazis. It seems there is something about quitting smoking that turns some people into the worst type of busybodies. I haven't seen that so much with vapers. Maybe it's because we're all on the same journey and, by definition, we all found it near impossible to quit.

Some UK names: LTcigs, ENJuice, vapeescape.co.uk, Triphammer
If you've got $45 per month, Zamplebox sends approximately five premium US flavours every month. Even with the international shipping, it's a good deal. See: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/uk-forum/543994-zamplebox-made-uk-pic-heavy.html

And of course, there is Grant's Vanilla Custard. He only does one flavour, and it sells out within a couple of hours, but it's well worth the trouble of getting an order in.

My advice about the ash flicking thing: get a dripper. IMO the more involved you are in your vaping experience, the more mentally satisfying it will be. Cigarettes don't have tanks, and tanks have no indication of when the smoking session is "finished" (other than the tank being empty, but realistically you won't empty a tank in the time it would've taken to smoke a stinky). On a dripper, you could replace the habit of flicking the ash with dripping. Worked for me, and I hope it will work for you. After a while you will develop habits and vaping will become the norm. That's when you can start to really enjoy it.

Best of luck to ya

I don't miss having to go outside for a smoke. No rain, no snow, no freezing temps or sweltering heat: it's brilliant! I'm lucky enough to be able to vape in my cube at work. My co-workers are totally cool about it and are super excited that I quit smoking. I love the fact that they encourage me to vape at work.

However, I am very respectful and am not blowing massive clouds or chain vaping; just enough to get me through the day.

Just don't do what I read here recently - someone threw their e-cig out of the car window!

I am also finding I don't feel the need to vape as much as I smoked. There are many other addictive chemicals in cigarettes besides the nicotine. Nicotine by itself is less addictive. There's the habit as well, which the e-cig can help to replace. It is different, but you get used to it and end up enjoying it, plus it tastes better!

Yeah you do need to carry a spare battery. Or maybe two. It's more complicated than smoking, you need to keep back-ups of everything. But worthwhile.

I've used a few of the UK eliquid sites already mentioned, but also Apollo. They're not the cheapest, but far from the most expensive, and I like them, especially the mango & peach flavour. They are an American company, but have a UK website here: E-liquids

I started using e-cigs around two weeks ago. Starting on disposables, and have recently moved onto kangertech evod. And ITS GREAT.

I started smoking in the Army. I was a regular 40 a day smoker, and when on exercise or tour would boost that number to a hundred. Smoking had started to damage my health massively. However for a long time cigerettes for me were a close friend, something I could use to get away from my problems... Something which I associated with a positive thing.

I already feel so much better. I can breath more easily and I don't fear pt as much as I did.

However I am so used to smoking... So used to having a cig with a coffee. I love not smelling, I love vaping. But I miss going outside for a ..., and I miss actually flicking the ash off.

Anyone else ever felt like this?

I chose to dig in to the vaping hobby to replace the fiddle with a ... thing. I still vape mostly in my man cave (aka garage). I also step out at events for the normal sanity break and vape away. Good luck to you soldier.

Apollo e-cigs are the company that forced themselves (advertising) onto AAEC UK, which is an independent and unbiased forum.
AAEC were held to ransom by the forum provider; either pay $320 a month or have advertisements from Apollo.

how come we get a cigalike ad banner | ALL ABOUT E-CIGARETTES UK

Their hardware prices are stupid. They make out they are doing "deals" when they just charge more than most other UK vendors.
The liquid is quite OK, but I wouldn't recommend them for anything else.

I take every opportunity to rubbish them and their fake prices. I also think the way they got to advertise was typical of the way things work these days on the internet.

Like I said, no problems with people enjoying the liquids. :)

Cool so far I have used .......... I saw a documentary on youtube about them and the guy who owns it seems clued up. Made my first rooky error (ordered a huge bottle of something I hadn't tried because it was cheap). However I don't regret this - it made me financially invested in keeping vaping and I have it their. However I wish I didn't go for tobacco tasting stuff as I want to move away from that!

Apart from that I think I will look into getting a better vaping tool (sorry don't know all the fancy lingo). At the moment I have a EVOD (well actually 3 as I lost one so ordered two more). However really fancy getting a variable voltage one - finding something that works for me would be brilliant. However there is a lot of choice. Price isn't the primary driver for me as I spent so much money smoking. However something that's good and which I'll like is.

As I said my new juice is coming TOMORROW. Just a shame I'm actually off camp for the day. As sad as it sounds I'm tempted to leave something I need on camp so I have to "pop back" in the day and then I can sample it. However being a bit more mature I might just indulge when I get home. That will be a cool evening.

Quick question - how do I need to know when to chance the coils? My current setup has one of them not smoking so well even though I've only used it for a couple of days. Should I change it or is there another problem?

Also another STUPID nooby question, but how do I change the fluid? What I mean is how do I clean the tank etc..?? If these silly questions have been answered in another thread please point me in the right direction.

Thanks all.

Changing liquids and cleaning will become obvious when you have the new tanks in your hand. Most BCC are straightforward enough. Everything is done with it upside down....

I never had much long life from the coils, unless I used iClear16s and they lasted ages. Best guess is less than a week. I always knew when it was getting bad, taste and vapour (both getting worse) are easily spotted.

I use iTasteVV v.3 from 9-5 (working day) and have not had any regrets. I also used Vision Spinners in the past.

iTaste VV V3.O Kit - Starter Kits

and here is the new one

Vision Spinner 2 1650 Mah

You are always welcome to ask about best prices (UK) as I know which vendors tend to be good value. I also know which vendors offer no discount and take the p*** with their prices. Just because it's cheaper than smoking, doesn't mean we shouldn't try to avoid unnecessary expenditure.

The market is quite unpredictable. Liquid can cost anything from £1.50 to £7.99 and price is often not a helpful indicator of quality/taste.
Clearos can cost anything from £2.99 to £25. Some places like to charge £8 for clearomisers you can find in 30 seconds on google for £3.50.

The cost that annoys me is the replacement heads. I pay £6 for 5. I know vendors that sell them for £2.99 each. That makes a huge difference over a year.

I did a price comparison once for a newbie on AAEC UK. £300-£400 a year is worth having. :)

Certainly is mate... £400 is better in my bank than in someone elses :) Like anything though - if you need it you need it, thats why pubs can charge £4 for a pint which I can buy from the supermarket for 50p.

I'll have a look at those links. I have noticed that prices vary a lot. Sadly as always... The small guys can't compete with amazon or the established and decent ebay sellers when it came to my evods.

Myepack (London) will normally be close on price. Shame about some of the other London vendors.
An evod (a proper, single one, made by Kanger) can be bought for £2 or something. It's not really on for Vendors to charge £7.99. You can get 5 for that price! :)

Vapeescape do them for £5. http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/Vaping-Spares/Clearomisers/EVOD-BC-Clearomiser.html?cPath=7_88 I dare say you could find cheaper, but you would be running an increasing risk of getting a knock-off or horrible customer-support.

Fasttech do 5 for $17.05: $17.05 Authentic eVod Bottom Coil Clearomizers (1.5mL / 5-Pack) 5-pack - 1.8ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
That's £2 each, (at current bank rate,) if you trust their "authentic" promise, (which I do, guardedly,) and you're willing to wait a month plus for delivery.

Really daft question... But surely that is just the tank??? Why would you need to change that? Sorry if I'm being stupid here.

You do get an atomiser with that of course, and a spare tank means you can have more than one flavour current.

But if you want the batteries, you can get those separately, as you can the atomisers. There's no need to go for a starter kit each time.

EVOD 650 Batteries [VE506] - £13.99 : Vape Escape
Kanger Protank Spare Heads (5) [VE515] - £8.95 : Vape Escape

Although personally I prefer the Joytech batteries. The buttons are easier to find without looking:
Joyetech eGo-C 650 Battery - Price £13.95 : Vape Escape

In fact my starter kit wasn't a starter kit:
1 x Joyetech eGo-C Twist VV (VE367) Choose Your Twist 1000mah Steel £24.95
1 x EVOD BC Clearomiser (VE505) Colour Stainless Steel £5.95
1 x Ego/Riva USB Charger (VE144) £4.75
1 x RY-5 10ml (VE587) Strength 18mg (Medium) £4.95
Sub-Total: £40.60

Only one battery, but it was VV. I had a mall-bought 510-type thing for backup. It wasn't long before I got a second battery and more clearomisers though.
