You people are making me concerned . I have a pair of eGo-T. I put the one on the charger over night and switchout in the morning? Yikes is this bad? Am I over charging by leaving it? It might be on there 12 hrs?

DISCLAIMER: This is coming from someone who is by nature paranoid when it comes to electrical stuff.......**

I take my eGos 650/900/1000mA off the charger as soon as I notice that the light has turned green (2 to 3 hours). I am totally OCD when it comes to checking while charging and I am glad that I am because one time I had a batt body actually get hot while charging. I waited two days (LOL, it had long since cooled by then) and I threw it out.
I look at batteries/chargers/most anything like I look at food....

When in doubt....
Throw it out.

I don't leave the house when charging..if I have to I unplug it and plug it back in when I return.
I don't let it charge while I am sleeping (overnight).
I use a lipo bag and put that in an old dutch oven pan that I no longer use since I don't have a concrete floor to put it on :p

As long as the charger is designed -and- functions correctly, that should not overcharge the battery. That said, the simple and cheap eGo chargers have been known to fail in a few ways while charging a battery. The result can easily be a fire hazard, so it would be wise to exercise some caution.

I charge mine when I'm awake and nearby, in the mornings (I work 2nd shift.) If the charger or battery acts differently than normal, I'm wary of both until I can figure out which one is malfunctioning and replace that.

I don't know if there is a specific guide on eGo battery safety, but there is a generic one here that applies well to any rechargeable lithium-ion batteries:

I definitely agree with tA71anna as far as using battery safety when charging, especially with the Ego batteries. Actually, in studying about this subject, the smaller the battery, the less safe they are. I don't mean to make people paranoid, but it's a fact. And I know of 2 people locally that have had their Ego batteries explode while charging them. Never leave them charging while you sleep or are not at home. if they feel hot while charging them, unplug them and don't charge them again, throw them out. I had a link about this topic and battery safety but I'm not sure where it is at the moment. There are ratings for safety on batteries and the Ego/Kgo type batteries rate quite low on the list. I'm not saying they aren't safe, but they aren't the safest. There are safety features in the Ego's in case it happens and you are using them. I'm not sure how else to put it. You get what you pay for. I use AW IMR removable batteries in all my mods.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to give a quick update. The problem was indeed the charging cable; I received my replacement cable today, and everything is working exactly as it should. My batteries each took about an hour and a half to charge from being completely depleted, and the light turns back to green now.

Although the problem is solved, this has opened my eyes to the potential dangers of charging batteries, and I will be purchasing a safe charging bag in the future and will always monitor the battery while it's charging from now on. Anyway, thanks for all of your feedback!

It's always nice to learn lessons BEFORE something bad happens. I'm gonna pick up a new charger too since this one has acted funny on a couple occasions. Chargers are the one vape item I haven't kept a backup and a backup for the backup.
