I'm helping my mom upgrade to better equipment than her cheap analog look-alike kit. I'm trying to help her do it as cheaply as possible, so I'm looking at buying a single eGO type battery. I've only bought a single batt once myself(an ego passthrough), and it came with a charger. Most sites I've looked at don't list any chargers with their batteries, only with the kits. My question is this: will most batteries come with a charger or are you expected to have one?

Also, if I get a 510 eGo/Riva battery, will her regular 510 charger work on it? One of the sites I looked at said you had to use the eGo charger, but I don't see that there would really be any difference.

Last question, I promise: can you charge a pt eGo with the regular(or eGo) 510 threaded charger, or do you have to use the mini-usb side?

Your best bet may be to get her an eGo PT like yours. I used those exclusively for a long time and they were great.

Most batteries won't come with a charger, they're just a spare battery. A 510 charger MAY work with an eGo, but there are some compatibility issues between the different brands. If the 510 charger does work it will take forever to charge an eGo because it has a much lower amperage rating.

As far as charging the PT, it depends, I've seen some that do let you use a threaded charger, others don't work with them (and could be damaged).

Batteries sold separately. :) Chargers don't come with.

You can charge your eGo and Riva batts on each other's charger. Both should be 420 mAh USB chargers. As StotheK said, charging eGo on 510 charger takes a while. Do not charge 510 mini batts on eGo charger, will destroy.

Welcome to MadVapes LLC sells USB chargers, but if you're going to buy a batt and charger, you've gone over $20, mind as well get a Riva 510 kit with 2 batts, attys and charger, $30 at E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings, click "20% off".

Don't know anything about PT, sorry.

Thanks for the replies, that's just what I needed to know. I had actually looked at both MadVapes and Liberty. I asked because I realized that a batt+charger makes that Riva lite kit make much more sense. I might just end up getting her a PT though, you can easily have just one battery with that, and I'm trying to make it simple for her.

Usually, kits are the cheapest way to go though and most kits come with at least a USB charger, if not both. Mad Vapes kits come with just the USB charger. LF kits come with both unless they state they don't.

I've never had great luck with pass-throughs. My regular ego batteries have lasted 6+ months but two pass-throughs both lasted about 2-3 months.
