You need a battery man to read your post and answer.
Years ago, many years ago I was told that batteries should be ran down all the way before charging. Not doing so will create a memory within the battery cells.
NOW
I don't know if this is true to the modern chemistry of todays batteries

That was for NiCd. Lithium batteries don't have the problem of memory effect. At least it's not significant.

With modern lithium cells the opposite is now true. It's recommended to charge your batteries long before they run all the way down. Doing so can help prolong the life of the cell. A little run down, a little charge is much better for the cell than a deep cycle.

Older Nickel based batteries would suffer from the memory effect.
