Coming from the electric RC world, I am accustomed to charging my lipos in a fireproof environment and have witnessed a few lipos burn. What do you folks use for charging your mods? Are we in general relying on the small output of the cellular USB chargers or are some folks taking safety precautions? I am going to at least put a fireproof stone under my mod charging area, but I may start bagging the mods while they charge. Any input?

I think that charging at a low rate with a usb charger poses no problem for charging parallel lipos. If you are using them in series then you need a balanced charger.
I think the RC folks use fast charging so they can get their planes back in the air (or cars on the track). We don't expect our batteries to fully charge in 20 minutes. We also don't remove our batteries to charge them. Most devices with lipos have a built in usb charger. Our lipos are not physically abused like in RC. Once they are installed we don't touch them. The enclosing packaging will not get punctured in normal use.
I think you can use the same precautions that you use when you recharge your phone, the standard explosion proof safe, no, I mean, just plug in the usb cable put it on the desk and go.
