Charge them before use, make sure you have a multi meter to check before and after use. I change my batts out around 3.85 -3.9 - thats when I can tell a change in the vape. Dont go any lower than 3.5 before charging.

Takes a few cycles with new batts before they perform their best.

Never charge batteries unattended - that means - dont go outside or go to bed while charging.

Which device will you be using them in?

They will arrive with a partial charge. You should never receive dead Li-On batteries since low voltage is when bad things start happening to Li-On chemistry.

What you do after that depends on the device you are using them in. You said "regulated mod" so I have to assume it's an electronic APV and not a mechanical. Most APV's will shut the device down at low voltage when the battery needs recharging. If that's what you are using it's ok to put the battery in with a partial charge.

Rickajho, they will be going in a new Provari not a mech, which will hopefully be arriving simultaneously. I understand the Provari has an in-built ability to test the voltage of the battery it's holding so I guess once I've worked out how to do that I can see if the new AW's are reaching low charge and require charging.

I admit to having zero experience with these types of batteries, so just wondered if there was any do's and don'ts with regard to first use hence the initial question.

If it's full size Provari then it's running a stacked pair of batteries. It's best in this case to have them fully charged before using.

Rick, you must not own a Provari.

A standard size Provari uses a single 18490 battery. With the extension battery cap it can use a single 18650 battery.

A mini Provari uses a single 18350 battery. With the extension battery cap it can use a single 18490 battery. With the addition of a Tatroe extension ring along with the extension battery cap it can use an 18650 battery.

You don't need a separate multimeter if you have a Provari. It has a built-in voltage meter by clicking 11 times and holding the button. The battery voltage will be displayed in the LED display.

ALL people need a multi meter to check batteries. Not having one is like a doctor without a stethescope.

Also after use check batteries - after coming off charger check batteries.

Let them rest 15 min before use after coming off charger.

Let them rest 15 minutes after using in PV before charging

i read somewhere (Battery Univ maybe) to let charged batts rest for 45mins to 1hr before using.

I should have said - MINIMUM 15 min. The longer they rest the better. Never read on Batt Univ those times - I do know ECF recommends several hrs. Most people without alot of batteries wouldnt be able to do that. Wherever I go - 12 batts go with me for just in case.
