I am sometimes away from an electrical outlet for 2 to 4 days at a time (camping, fishing, etc.). Anyway, what is out there for those of us in this situation? I don't want to revert back to buying a pack of cigarettes because my e-cig is dead.

I know bigger batteries are always an option. But I'm wondering if there are other alternatives?

If bigger batteries are a turn off, there are a couple of options. Many of the smaller kits offer a personal charging pack that allows you to charge your batteries on the go. Some of the larger batteries like the ego have these available as well.

Likewise, you can pick up a usb passthru and a portable usb charger. I believe Kensington has a couple good ones and there is one for the blackberry cell phone that I've seen people talk about.

Or you can do what a lot of us do and keep extra charged batteries and change them out as needed.

If you're saying your trips take you away from a vehicle as well, then your best options are bigger and/or more batteries. Solar chargers can work ... seems like a lot of hassle though ... enough batteries to last 4 days isn't that big an investment, especially if you are using a mod ... batteries are consumeables ... even if you have a bunch you will eventually use them up so no waste.

Either a car charger, or a smart pack, which is essentially a big ol' battery, that will charge your ecig about 4 times without a plug in. And if you need more than that, bring your laptop and only use it to charge your pack. Assuming you have about two hours charge on your computer, that'd charge a smart pack two or three times. Or you could get a usb charger or two, and use it to charge on a laptop. Get two usb chargers, and make sure to charge two batteries at a time, to you get more out of your computer charger.

Or, you could bring a gas generator. Honestly, that's the less Wile-y-coyote solution lol.

Thanks for the info.

I wonder if there are any solar charging options for the outdoorsman?
Yes there are. Thin film flexible panels could be a good choice. Most are 12VDC devices so you would want to use these panels with a 12VDC auto-type charge unit for your pv. Thin film flexible panels are expensive solar power per watt, but in some applications they are just the right thing. I have 64 watts of thin film flexible panels and a charge controller to keep up the deep cycle house batteries on the boat.

I use an 11000mah portable USB charger. I think it only outputs 1 amp on its single USB port but I put a hub on that and charge up to 2 batteries at a time (so each has 500mA of power available)

The one I use takes 7.5 hours to charge

This one - New Trent iCruiser IMP1000
http://www.amazon.com/New-Trent-iCr...Z64Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329718951&sr=8-1

I don't camp but I do attend some all day/night festivals and use it in my car's back seat or trunk to charge batteries.

I also charge it at home in advance when we have a blizzard, noreaster or hurricane coming and use it at home to charge batteries when the power is out. I also picked up a usb-powered 14500 charger for my little box mod batteries.

You cannot use a PT on this thing unless the PT has an inline battery (then you are just charging a battery while you vape it). It does not put out enough amps for a plain direct from power PT.

I too spend much time away from power in the summer for work. I have stockpiled an arsenal of batteries, have multiple car adapters, have purchased a solar charger, and even picked up worst case scenario disposables. I have caved on many quit smoking spells in the field surrounded by smokers. I am hoping this summer will be different.
