Charred Coils/Cotton

I've been having this issue arise ever since I began building dual coils.
After a fresh build of 26 gauge dual coils ~0.5 ohms my coils and cotton begin to blacken after a few hours.
I understand this is expected and natural, but the cotton also practically disintegrates where it passes through the coil.

Once this happens, I only get 2-3 drags of burnt(ish) tasting juice off wicked cotton compared to the 5-7 drags of great flavor I get when the build is first built.
I notice when I take it apart to clean it, the cotton that goes through the coil hole has came apart from what I am guessing is the heat.
My juice also doesn't wick properly and seems to just float on top of the cotton after using the build for a while.
Note that when I first build it and vape on it, it's wonderful. I'm just confused why after an hour and a half the whole thing is charred. I always make sure my cotton is saturated properly due to the paranoia of dry hits, so I'm wondering why this problem is occurring so rapidly- It's a pain in the ... to re wick 3 times a day.

If anyone has some insight please let me know, thankyou!

(I use max VG juice- such as Bronsen's Milk)

If there is too much cotton in the coil, it won't wick properly because it expands and effectively chokes itself. Then the ends of the cotton do all the evaporating and the middle just burns.

Yeah I believe that's what's happening, thanks for explaining it to me. When I run the cotton through the coil it is very snug and almost yanks at the coil when I'm pinching it through, tooooooo much cotton.

Try to leave the space underneath the coil open too and it will improve the air flow around your coil and dissipate the heat a little better.
