Hey all, title says it all. Been surfing the web for the last few days looking for a nice, cheap rda for the noisy cricket I just bought. Just looking for something with a nice long (or stable adjustable) 510 contact pin. Clones are considered as long as they're 1:1 and reliable, like Tobeco.

So far my list of options is as follows:
- Tobeco Velocity V2
- Tobeco Twisted Messes V2
- Fogwind Alliance V2
- Wotofo The Troll V2

Looking for suggestions and advice. Thanks!

Cant comment on most of these but I've married my Twisted Messes V2 (clone) to my cricket since day one.

Running a 0.8 dual build with no issues.

Not a Tobeco as far as I know, bought from 3F & has a good length 510 ( not adjustable no matter what the description says)

Quick picture if you want to see what it looks like.

Hey @IrkMe, could you post a link to where you got your Twisted Messed clone from? If you don't want to post it publicly, feel free to PM me.

Mines came from 3F but looks like there no longer for sale.

I have seen them on Efun for around the $9 mark but not sure of the maker.

Like I said though, no complaints about mine on the Cricket.
Rats. I read somewhere that 3F had them in stock and they were gone the next day. I believe they had the Tobeco version, but that might have been another site. I've seen it on some other websites but they looked too sketchy for me to consider placing an order. Unsure if I want to settle for a generic clone, I like the quality of Tobeco's machining even though they produce clones...

Nice setup though, I'm envious. I have a Fogwind Alliance V2 22mm version being shipped out to me right now; the contact pin looked long enough in the pictures I got, so here's hoping! Will update with a picture when I receive it.

Thanks for sharing! @IrkMe

Nice.

Not sure I have the lungs for even 80 watts though. Probably shouldn't have even bought a Cricket.

I can vouch for the Pin on the Alliance V2(Clone and Authentic) being perfect for use with the Noisy Cricket. The Pin on it is the longest one in my arsenal of RDAs by a long shot. You wont have any issues, and having been using mine on a direct to battery connection for months now,the pin is still rock solid, and protruding as much as it was when I first bought it.

@McAnythingReally whew! That really eases my mind a lot. I was sitting here figuratively pulling my hair out hoping it wouldn't cause an issue
Out of curiosity, do you have the clone, the authentic, or both? Is the pin adjustable? Will I even need to worry about that? The insulator on the authentic is PEEK, right? I can't wait for it to get here! It's sitting at the shipping center in my city as we speak :hubba:

Really? 80 watts is standard for me. Must be because I'm used to building low. Even with the 0.32Ω alien coil I have on the velocity clone in my iPV3 Li, I'm running 70 watts.
That being said, I plan on never building lower than a 0.5Ω-0.6Ω coil setup for the cricket. Running authentic Sony VTC4s with a rating of 30 amps, so I'm thinking I should be fine with that.

Edit: Whoa, said that without running the wattage calculations first. Hardly a chance I'm ever going to run down to a 0.5Ω build, doubt I'm going to want 128W going straight into my lungs hahaha. The 0.8Ω build is most likely going to be my go to.
@IrkMe, what kind of build do you have in yours?

VTC4's are not 30a, they're 23a.

Yeah, I'm a lower wattage vaper which is definitely NOT the intent of the Cricket.

Typically I'm fine with a single battery tube mech and a .3-.4 ohm build which gets me around 40-55 watts at 4v but the Cricket is completely different beast.

I would have to get above 1 ohm and that's tough to do with a dual coil set-up. Especially with a lot of these big-air attys (like my Velocity) designed to accept larger gage or wrapped (Clapton style) wire.

I'm having a hard time finding a build that works for me and keeps the wattage around 50 watts or so.

I have both the Authentic and Clone, I dont think it is an adjustable pin really, it is able to be screwed and unscrewed, but that is more for changing insulators and posts around as they have multiple post configurations you can use. Yep, Insulator is PEEK. Honestly, you wont have to worry about adjusting the pin at all. Like I said, it is out of all of my RDA's hands down it has the longest pin. You can see pretty well in this picture how much it protrudes. I remember when Yosh from Vapergate introduced it on Youtube, he made a point to bring up the 510 pin and how they specifically designed it to be a bit longer to be safe on all mods.
