I'm pre-new to vaping. I haven't vaped yet. I'm not a smoker, I just want to hobby vape to help / eliminate bored snacking.
I've decided to get a single 16850, temp. control mod.
I'm going to get a variety of sample size juice flavors, to find what I like.
So I think I should get a few tanks - since they'll be for temp. use (and I'm buying so much to start vaping), I'd prefer cheap ones.
I understand I need stainless steel coils to use temp. and watt control.
Please tell me which tanks are cheap (but not crap) that use SS coils.

Not sure if any of these are of interest, but....

$5 Tanks

I don't have any of these, but a few of them are RTAs (so do your homework before you start building - you can build with Nickel, Titanium, and possibly even Stainless Steel for TC) Lean toward the ones with existing coils for now?

Welcome :vapor:

I would start building if I were you. Surprised you haven't started vaping yet though..

Anyway, look into the Siren v2, or the Hastur... building your own coils gives you more control, and I personally think the taste is better. It's something to learn, but it doesn't take long to get it, especially with those tanks.

You should also look into the new Lost Vape Paranormal DNA 250c mods since you haven't bought one yet, they are out now.. top of the line as far as boards go. Makes temperature control so much easier.

I would not go cheap on a tank, you can save money in other areas.

You might pay $10, $20, or even $30 more for a good one but it's a one time fee and well worth the money.

The last RDA I bought came up to just over $100 with tax. It's a lot but it's a one time fee and nothing compared to the cost of pre-made coils or juice.

I would look into Loch Ness

It's a dual battery mod but you're getting a $90 product for $30. The money you save from getting this is enough to pay for the extra battery and a good tank.

Cool thing about the Toptank Mini (and it's older brother, the Subtank Mini): the RBA head that comes with it. With some stainless steel wire and some good cotton, you can have both worlds.

All three worlds, actually. Drop-in coil convenience, rebuildable coil flexibility and temperature control all in a tank that's under $30.

Don't know if you are looking at MTL or DL tanks, but if MTL you might check out the Prime clones like the SXK Prime from places like 3Vape or FastTech, aprox. 19 bucks.

I never thought about cutting down on snacking when I took up vaping, I was surprised though that it did have that effect.

Many reasonably priced tanks about, and it is true that the Toptank mini is pretty diverse. I don't own one with that said, but those who do seem to really like them.

If you want something inexpensive (and may take a little time to get there but it's a nice way "into" building, would be something like a Joytech Ego One Mega V2, can usually find one cheaply. You do have to get the correct coil, the Joytech CLR coil which will come in 1.0 or 0.5 resistance. They are kanthal coils but pretty easy to rewick and rebuild and many folks will rebuild the coil with stainless steel wire at whatever chosen resistance and have used it in TC mode. The coils last, but they are also really surprisingly easy to rebuild.... You'd have some time vaping in wattage mode unless you want to rebuild a new coil, but I tend to find that is better to "Learn" to vape and your preferences in wattage mode will likely help you as you are getting oriented.

If you want to jump in at the deep end, if you are more MTL I'd suggest a Siren V2, and/or an Ares, both RTAs, good capacity and flavor, and they offer a great vape. The berserker is a nice MTL vape but the draw is extremely restricted, which may not be what you want. I'd also metion the doggy style clone can be found at Fasttech for very inexpensively. People tend to love or hate that tank, but it gets great flavor and lots of folks swear by it. You don't want the authentic (unless you want to pay a ton) but it is seen as a good option as far as clones. The Kayfun clones are decent, it's really not something I've had a lot of success with but a lot of folks are swearing by the prime, and the Kayfun lot tend to buy original but it is so expensive, it would be out of your price range, I'd suspect.

Having a hard time coming up with great options for drop in coils, and if you are looking for sub0hm I'm not your girl although I'd put in a vote for an Engine (although I hear they are being discontinued) single coil build deck, people love them. For a drop in tank, probably the Original Crown if you can find one. The crown 3 gets good reviews but it's not as versatile in coil type as the original Crown.

Best of luck,

Anna

My bit of advice is if your planning to subohm or even dabble in vaping .8 or less the single battery mod doesn't cut it IMO above 40 watts, the older the battery gets the less knards to fire the coil properly and most boards just shut down. Tootle puffing 1.5-2.2Ω ohm coils the single battery mod is good. Invest in a 2 or more battery mod for longer term versatility that once your in full swing, you will eventually realize looking at your single battery mod an thinkin...should have gotten that 2 batt hitter.

"cheap (but not crap)" is a colloquialism for: 'low price value'.
I've been reading this site for a while now. I've never seen a post where someone just keeps using the first eq. they buy. So I don't want to spend more than I have to.

That's called Shinyitis... there's a tapestry on that in the general discussion area.
