Cheaper alternative to blank cartomizers for sampling flavors?

I have a Volt KR8 and I was wondering what other alternatives do I have other than buying a bunch of blank cartomizers for sampling different flavors?

I have heard of gutting your used and empty cartos and leaving the "sock" over the coil, however, that "sock" still absorbs the juice and it leaves me skeptical as I won't know the true flavor of something i'm sampling...

I'm thinking of getting the Fluxomizer when GotVapes stocks them back up, is this a better idea versus blanks, or will this be more of a hassle due to having to clean out the clearomizer each time I want to try a new flavor?

Also, with the Volt batteries regulated @ 3.6v, what ohm should I be looking at if I go the atty route?

Thanks for any responses and help! Can't wait to try the 8 flavors I just ordered from ECBlend!

If you have a manual battery you can use a dripping atomizer & drip tip to test your juices (that's essentially what you'd be making if you removed the filler from a carto, except a true atty wouldn't have the 'sock', as you mentioned). I don't know if anyone makes attys for a KR808 but if not you could get an adapter for 510 carto to KR8 batt and use either a 510 or a 306 SR atty (I prefer the 306; same threading as 510). If you only have auto batteries I would not do this because you'd risk getting liquid into the switch & ruining the battery.

Good luck & Happy vaping! :)

When I just had 808s I went to a local meet and tried a 901 atomizer on it and it didn't work. So even though a lot of people do say 901s should work doesn't mean they will. Fortunately I was able to get a refund on it right there. Maybe the best way to go would be to get an ego or a small cheap 3.7 box mod and then 510 attys to go with it. My first purchase beyond the 808s was a little 3.7 box mod from the classies here for $15. You should be able to find something in a similar price range for a small 3.7 box mod like that too. I love my little 3.7 box mod and still use it. When I drip into an atty that is usually the one I use. I like the bridgeless attys from kalamazoo vapor shop or hotvapes. I get them in LR. They are great to use when I go to a meet and want to try a bunch of juices at once. When I drip to try juices tho you want to avoid dripping cinnamon or menthol or certain really strong juices, which may overwhelm the atty and stick in there. Blowing it out and priming with some pg or vg with no nic helps. If I need to rinse out a flavor I drop a few drops of pg or vg and vape it out, then blow it out, and wipe the battery connection.

901 attys fit onto 808 batts, well at least every 901 atty I own does.

Honestly, ripping the fill out of a carto is a real easy way of testing your juices and the taste and hit is truer than using an atty anyway.

I do this exclusively now. I don't throw my burnt cartos away anymore, I just mod them and save them. At any time I'll have at least 10 I can use for tasting.

Never could get a satisfying vape from dripping into an atty. I wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks everyone, I guess i'll just stick to the Carto to Atty mod for now until I see what the Volt users are doing specifically. I figure that i'll just use the Ice Menthol ones because just a bit of residual menthol on the sock won't really disturb the overall taste that much.

Guess that means getting a couple pack of Volt blanks for me!

Been reading on people putting 901 attys on 808 batts, but never read of anyone doing it on a Volt, so that's where i'm confused. Just skeptical on getting a clearomizer or a atty and it ends up not fitting.

Lastly, thanks for the tip sailorman! I'll be looking into this right now.

I use a Volt during the day at work because they're extremely handy when you can't hit the manual switch on another pv, but I test all my liquids by dripping into a Riva. I know you really want to use your Volt to do this, but frankly it's not worth the possibility of destroying your battery. It's far cheaper to get a manual pv or passthrough and just test at home, then fill your cartos with what you like for when you're out and about. If you do happen to have a manual Volt battery, you'd be fine getting an 808>510 adapter, they're extremely cheap. I have a volt passthrough as well and I'm going to try the adapter tonight and I'll let you know how it goes.

Exactly why this thread has been created. I want to find alternative ways to drip for sampling flavors specifically for the Volt KR808D-2

To clear things up, I bought the Pro Starter Kit with one manual and one auto. I will of course, only drip/sample on the manual.

So far the choices for the KR808D-2 (SI-Volt) in order of cost effectiveness:

1) Gutted Cartos (Cheapest) - Will leak if held upside down (rumor is if it leaks being held upside down, you're putting too much juice in the carto). Also, you may have residual flavor from the previous flavor in that carto.

2) 901 Atomizer (Cheaper) - Chances are hit and miss as not all atty's are made the same, some will thread and some won't. Some will thread but won't even draw. So far I have heard of one user with a Volt using this atty.

3) 510 Atomizer + Adapter (Cheap): This will work, guaranteed. I have yet to look into it as I cannot find or looked into the 510 atomizers.
