I have recently been into the cherry bomber mod and before I got it I have been hearing some very bad things. But I have also been hearing some pretty great things. I overall think its a great mod and have already thought up some good modifications for the open ring around the top and magnets for the button. Also the floating pin. If this is that bad of a mod, can you suggest some other mods like this one around the same price range of the Cherry Bomber?

It's a bad design. It's negative connections are not dependant on the switch to close the circuit like just about all other mechs out there. It can auto fire and go supernova quickly.
Forget about the Cherry Bomber. It's a pipe bomb waiting to happen.
Cherry Bomber box mod - may have auto-on issue
I don't have any recommendations for box mods like the Cherry Bomber. My preference is for a mech tube mod which utilizes a recessed side fire button which nearly eliminates the possibility of autofiring in a pocket or purse. Safety should be your first priority concerning mechanical mods in my opinion, because mechanical mods have no processor protection like in a regulated mod.
