Aldermen Approve Scaled-Back Ban on Flavored tobacco Products

"The ban applies to products that feature liquid nicotine that has 'tastes or aromas of menthol, mint, wintergreen, chocolate, vanilla, honey, cocoa, any candy, any dessert, any alcoholic beverage, any fruit, any herb, or any spice,' according to the measure."

Accompanied by the usual specious crap.

[Chicago Mayor Lori] "Lightfoot said Wednesday she wholeheartedly supported the scaled-back ban, calling the issue 'personal' because her father died a 'slow, painful, miserable death' after smoking two packs a day. In addition, Lightfoot said her daughter has seen people vaping in the bathrooms of her elementary school."

It Always Blows My Mind to hear this as a Reason why we should Stifle something that can Help People Quit Smoking. And that same something has been Shown to be Orders of Magnitudes Safer than Smoking.

Less e-Cigarettes = More Smoking = More 'slow, painful, miserable death'

Why Don't they just cra_p and the Emotional Heartstring tugging. And just come out and say they Like Tax Revenues from Cigarettes better than they like Smokers having a Safer Alternative.

Logic would make the good mayor want to ban the products that caused her father's "slow, painful, and miserable death".

    That would be cigarettes.

However, no amount of "slow, painful, and miserable death" would make these people turn down that tax revenue.

    Am I Reading this Correctly?

Total Tax on 1 Pack of Cigarettes in Chicago = $8.17

    But Dig This...

Total Tax on e-Liquids is $1.40 per ml + $1.50 per unit + 15% of wholesale price

Illinois Tax Increase on Cigarettes and E-Cigarettes Scheduled to Go Into Effect July 1 | The Civic Federation.

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot ?

I Don't think there is Enough Tea in Chicago to throw in Lake Michigan. Or Enough People to Throw it.

Maybe instead of Tea, It would be Better to throw City Council Men/Women into the Lake?

Mix & get rich in Chicago.
Selling or even giving away 'home made' juice may have disastrous consequences though. Especially if the buyer or givee isn't a family member or close personal friend. Imagine that person getting sick, or suddenly not feeling well, even if the ailment has nothing to do vaping or the juice in particular, and they mention the juice made by another. The seller or giver may most probably face harsh consequences, be it federal, local, or personal.

It's nothing but a smoke screen to distract the voters from what's going on behind closed doors. Has absolutely nothing to do about health.
It certainly doesn't. Has been and always will be about the $$$.

An Immortal quote from Long term Illinois Politician and 2 Term Governor of Chicago...

"You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before."

Even if we don't want to vote for either candidate, we are still voting for a a philosophy of government. Their are many differences with each political party. Just vote for the party that has a gist of the things that you believe in.

I know that one party doesn't like to make tax laws for stupid reasons. Seems a good justification to vote.
