Chicago out in 2016!

America has had the games more than any other nation. It sucks that Chicago got passed over... but not surprising. There are certainly far more important things to be bummed about.
Oh, and shame on the rabid partisans who have been celebrating this as a victory against Obama.

Yeah, while I don't agree with everything Obama says or does, he's taken a ton of crap since before the election, and now it seems like it's just the easy thing to do. The battery in my Chrysler died. That damn Obama did it again!
All fun aside..... I do admit that I celebrate this as a victory against Daley. I was always pretty neutral on him for the most part until he went in and had the runway at Meigs Field destroyed in the middle of the night with airplanes still there just because people were opposing his wishes to replace it with a park. Who but a shady character would begin the demolition of an active airport in the middle of the night to avoid any confrontation and leave innocent peoples' airplanes basically stranded?
I don't mean to start a political war here because frankly politics bore me and there is no winner in a political discussion. I'm simply stating my opinion of Daley and the way he does business. I think he needed this to wake him up and realize he's not "King Daley" and he can't always get his way.
Wow someone actually thinks this is a victory against Obama? Just because he was a senator from there don't mean your ..... slapping him by not giving Chicago the Olympics, that's a bit of reach even for republicans. It won't matter anyway, as someone else already mentioned briefly the world is going to end on 12-21-12 anyway so Chicago really ain't missing out on anything. I too used to go to Chicago 3 times a week driving a 70ft car-hauler, and the traffic is already one of the worse in the nation adding an event like the Olympics would be murder on the highway system and public transport there would not be able to handle the overflow, no way, no how.

Agree on nixing Chitown, you know, it would make me sick to think of the high-fiving and knuckle-bumps to those big political dopes with their eyes all squinted up, teeth all hanging out, heh heh heh. We Bad! Think of the millions they could've got out with.
They never would have cleaned up the mess of left-over bills and the lake would have been (more) full of garbage.

Oh Kevin I totally agree with you. Meigs field, then lets look at how much he said that stupid bean would cost and how much it actually cost, and how the whole parking meeter thing ended up. You know "King Daley" will get re-elected though.
It doesn't matter which party your for the voters in this state are stupid. They re-elected Ryan, they re-elected Blago, after being told by his FIL something was up, and they keep re-electing Daley even though he keeps messing things up.
I am glad Chicago didn't get the Olympics I don't believe anything "they said" we would have been on the hook and it would have costed us big time.
The rhetoric is that Obama rallied for the Olympics, therefore the fact that Rio won them means that Obama failed. Of course, these same brain dead right wingers would have hammered Obama for failing to secure the games if he hadn't rallied for them.
