What ohm atty is he using and at what voltage? He should try the 2.0 ohm on a 3.7 device and see how that works for him.If thats to cool try it at a higher voltage say 4.0 or 4.2 which is what I do and its perfect for me.Dripping has learning curve as you stated but is great once you get the hang of it :)

Cisco Spec 1.5 ohm at 3.7 voltage. It's good for me! I haven't gotten a burning feeling unless I hit it too hard or it was running dry, but he's getting it every time.

That's what we were thinking too -- trying a 2.0 ohm for him. I can definitely see dripping being great once we get the hang of it (and it hasn't been too bad for me tonight), but I feel bad for him. :\ He's bummed; he said, "This makes me think I want a cigarette! Give me a clearo!" Haha.

Tell him dont give up! LOL Yeah the 2.0 ohm will be much better :) The vapage atty really is amazing .I never get harsh hit or dry hit and is consistent with each hit .They are 18 bucks I believe for 2 pack but worth every penny IMO Like I said I had given up on dripping till I started using one .
