The other day I placed an order for a Chuck with an 801 connector on it. Then, as I continued to peruse the LOOOOOONG thread with all the Chuck PrOn I read some mentions of issues with the 801s and saw some recommendations that instead of ordering the Chuck with an 801 connector it would be better to order it with a 510 connector and use an adapter from Altsmoke instead.

Is this accurate? I only placed the order a couple of days ago, so I am sure I could change the order if I need to. What exactly is the issue with the 801s when it comes to the Chuck?

Any advice anyone can give me would be much appreciated!

There are a wide variety of 801 atomizers. Some fit differently on the battery connector, and require a staple mod to get it working correctly. The 801 adapter for the most part doesn't seem to have this problem.

It is recommended that if you want to use different atomizers on the same Chuck, to order a 510 version and use adapters. The 510 to (other model) adapters seem to work the best.

If you're using 801 exclusively, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you run across an atty that isn't working quite right, the staple mod is easy to do, and will fix the issue.

Back in the original thread somewhere is the answer to the solder bobble problem some early 801 users had. I think it involved dripping an extra blob of solder. Would be a good idea to find that advice, or ask Jeff to pass on a brief description of what to do. Some folks might find that easier than the staple mod.

If high school shop class taught me anything it is that I need to stay away from solder. 8-o
