These are places where people are under some form of control.
And for the Nannys to use that framework to insert their agenda is indeed more than monstrous.
I agree. Opportunistic, and destructive in a numbers ways, including a further attack on THR, along with propping up less than effective NRT, and supportive of greed.

But I do have a word for it, and that word is evil.
And it's even worse than that when they pretend to do it for the good of the subjugated.

I'm not sure there is a worse word than "evil" but if there is, then it applies here.

Completely agree.

Here we go:

Evil:
profoundly immoral and malevolent.
"his evil deeds"
synonyms: wicked,bad,wrong,immoral,sinful,foul,vile,dishonorable,corrupt,iniquitous,depraved,reprobate,villainous,nefarious,vicious,malicious

The underlined are my choice. It's just hard to find something *strong* enough to describe the monstrousness of making any of those places smoke-free, and then being PROUD of it!

I was more thinking along the lines of their lack of caring, sympathy, and empathy.
But yeah, what you said too.

Except Bill believes it's the right thing. I don't see him as being evil.

Just because he believes it's the right thing, doesn't make it so. It's the right thing for HIM... but certainly not for anyone who actually has to be incarcerated in any of those places.

Mostly in self-defense.

Umm... pushing them off their land so white people could live on it wasn't self-defense. It was arrogant theft, because those natives were "heathens." I'm white myself (at least 90% anyway), but the egregious behavior of white people toward all other races all thru history makes me ashamed.

That whole history has been rewritten by the those who take advantage and define the "victims" in our country in order to get their votes mainly. Some of what you say is true, some was true self-defense. This wasn't some nirvana pre-Mayflower - they warred against other tribes before we got here (and after). Our biggest mistake was not to make them full citizens. But that, like slavery, was a British mistake. We inherited it, and eventually solved the slavery issue but we still live with it today by the same "victim creators" mentioned above.

I don't know how effective TCers/THRers were on reservations and casinos. Anyway, back to jails....do not pass go...
