Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
Cinnamon flavor has always sort of been an iffy thing. The dangers of cinnamon itself being inhaled are already sort of known since before the cinnamon challenges all overy YouTube.

That said, it's better to err on the side of caution. I think I'll use my cinnamon (hot cinnamon) in small, diluted doses and I won't inhale it. Lung tissue doesn't necessarily come back every time where mucas cells in the mouth have a better chance of regenerating. I have a giant bottle and I still love it.

I don't blame them for discontinuing the sales of cinnamon products. It shows they're looking out for their customers (and themselves) by letting people know of the new study and that there's a risk.

MT BAKERS STATEMENT:

Here at Mt Baker Vapor we have been following the recent studies about Cinnamon flavors very closely. At this time we do not have enough information to make a statement on the issue either way. At this time we have decided to remove any flavors that contain Cinnamon while we continue our research. Our biggest concern is our customers and their health. We will keep you all posted on this situation. Please feel free to contact at support@mtbakervapor.com if you have any comments, questions or concerns.

I wonder what they're extracting the cinnamon from. Most cinnamon found in spice cabinets isn't cinnamon at all. I'm drawing a blank on what it actually is, but I remember some brewers discussing it when they were judging pumpkin ales. I don't brew pumpkin beers at all, so I wasn't really paying that close of attention.

I have a couple bottles of the cinnamon red hot from MBV as well as the cinnamon roll, what would you use to dilute?
I am not ready to give them up, but maybe I will slow them down a little.

I'd mix them with something less volatile to make a new flavor, probably. Not sure what right now as I'm not in mad scientist mode....lol

Still, just don't inhale and keep the vapor in your mouth to be on the safe(r) side.

I'm not a doctor or scientist. I just play one on the internet.

How interesting. Cinnamon has always been known as an irritant... but that has a lot to do with concentration. Most things used in concentrated are dangerous, which is why they have an LD50 for most substances from water and salt to nicotine that anyone can google online.

Hrm. Doing a quick google, found a NIH study on cinnamon as an effective insecticide for weevils:): https://www.google.com/search?q=cin...4&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8

(Chili peppers and black pepper are as effective or more effective as an insecticide)

Found the LD50 here: http://www.btps.ca/files/PDF/MSDS/Cinnamon_Leaf_Oil.pdf
Toxicity:
Acute oral toxicity (LD50): 2650 mg/kg [Rat]
Acute dermal toxicity (LD50): 5000 mg/kg [Rabbit]

I think its great that so many companies are concerned for their customers! But I agree with the guy in the video. You can do your own math from the LD50 if anyone is concerned, but after thousands of years of continuous use, I've never heard of any residual/long term issues from cinnamon (but a lot of benefits).

If the only issue then is acute toxicity, and you can calculate the actual amount required for acute toxicity from the LD50 above, I can't see how the amounts anyone vapes are a problem.

Cinnamon used to one of my favorite flavors, but, sadly, I don't seem to like it anymore. There have been more detailed warnings about cinnamon vapes in the past, but nothing concrete. I think MBV pulled the flavors to protect themselves just in case it turns out to be a problem, or, more likely, if someone were to claim there was a problem.

People have the responsibility to do research and make their own decisions. I smoked for a very long time, so vaping cinnamon wasn't something that concerned me. I wish I still liked it, it was yummy.

It sucks when we get tired of stuff we loved.
